It’s VERY early to estimate, however, presuming you are in-state, I’d guess:

  • Duke, significnt reach
  • UNC-CH, low reach
  • NCSU, match/safety

If you are in state: Duke: reach; UNC-CH: match; NCSU: Safety You need to build up those EC’s and take a challenging course load in the future. Keep up the good work!

Duke: Reach
UNC: Reach
NCstate: (non engineer)- Match, (Engineer)- Low Reach

Considering you are a sophomore in high school and will probably take the Sat again and get a 2200+, i would say duke-low reach, unc-high match, NC state-match. Aim for straight A’s the next few years. Do some more volunteer work, join another club or two, maybe even a sport if you’re interested. And aim for national honors society as well and you could possibly get into all of them

I’d definitely say reach for UNC-CH and Duke. Your SATs are good(equivalent to a high 32 on the ACT and 1430 or so on the old scale) but everything else is just okay. If I were you, I’d work on taking challenging classes. By the looks of it, you’re doing well in your classes but you’re not taking very challenging ones at all. It is much better to be taking hard classes and getting low A’s than to be taking easy classes and getting high A’s(since they’re all A’s anyway), and classes like yearbook will bring you down when the competition took Physics instead or something similar instead.

Overall, I’d work on building your app outside of school because that’s definitely where it is lacking.

Good luck!

Yeah, I’m taking AP Calc, AP Earth enviromental science, AP Art history, and AP physics ap wise for next year. I just wish they’d offer physics for sophmores, that’d be nice

@Jessie1020‌ Awesome! 4 APs will definitely help. I’d try to keep that up senior year and do 8(total, not in one year!) or so.

I’m aiming for Mu Alpha Theta, Tri M music honor society, Spanish honors society, national honor society next year

@Jessie1020, Have you considered doing less college-oriented things? Doing something you enjoy, where it be badminton or hand puppets, will be a lot more special than joining lots of clubs. Although clubs like those are great, I(not an adcom) would be more impressed by lots of hours in to a special activity rather than in to lots of clubs that look like you joined just for college. If you really enjoy the clubs tho, those sound like some really fun ones!

Good luck!
