What are my chances at getting into UVA?

Hi. I was just wondering what my chances were at getting into UVA. I know I will find out in 16 days, but I was just wondering what everyone else thought my chances were. The stress is driving me crazy (it's my dream school).

I have an unweighted GPA of 4.0, and a weighted GPA of 4.31. I have taken every Honors and AP course that I can. My SAT scores are as follows: Critical Reading = 670
Math = 670
Writing = 680
Critical Reading and Math combined = 1340
Total = 2020

I also have completed (w/ an "A") two college english courses through an ACCEL program.

Here is a list of my exracurricular activities and honors/awards:
Academic Awards/Honors
-2007 Georgia Certificate of Merit
-2007 PC Fellow

So, what are my chances?
BTW: I live in GA.

Thanks.

Oh! I forgot to put in class rank. I'm in the top 5% of my HS class.

Any comments? Even a simple "in" or "out" would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Your only weakness is your scores on the sat. I'd say in though based on ecs and grades

if you lived VA u would be definitely in!

thanks for the comments. Always good to hear that I have a shot. Yeah, I wish my SAT scores were better. I've never been great at standardized tests. :( It would be nice to be in state too.

Any other opinions?

Does anyone know what the average SAT score and GPA are for out of state students accepted to UVA?

i dont know what these people are talking about, your sat score is fine, dont sweat it dude. .... and might i suggest that you volunteer for habitat for humanity a couple times, that would look excellent for your ec's.

I wish I could get some more EC, but this is my Senior year. In fact, they have already made the decisions, but are waiting unitl April 1st to let us see them. Other than an April 1 decision being a great opportunity for a really bad joke, it's frustrating because it's really stressful waiting this long.

As far as my SAT score, I know it would probably be okay if I were in-state, but I am worried b/c I am oos. Nhockeyfreak, thanks for the encouraging comments. Did you realize that I am an oos student, or did you know and still think it's a good enough score and stuff to get in? Thanks.

any other opinions? they would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry that was long, but I’m really nervous (esp. after getting waitlisted by W&M): What do u guy’s think of my chances of getting into UVA?

Oh- and I'm instate, fairfax county (tougher grading scale here)

any comments-maybe an 'in' or 'out'? What do you think, Wahoo?

nikki9, please start a new thread .. that makes this a lot less confusing.

To OP, as it has already been stated, you have great stats. The only thing that makes me a little "iffy" is your UW 4.0 and "lower" SAT scores. You don't want colleges thinking you're the 4.0 kid who doesn't know what (s)he's doing (or you aren't being challenged at school ... which you DON'T want them to think!). My tutor has a GPA to SAT "comparison" chart. The chart essentially says that a 4.0 kid should have 2240+, and a 2020 hits around a 3.5-3.7 on the chart. I hope I'm not making you feel dumb, as a 2020 is a very respectable score, but we're just very picky on CC. If you can bump it up 80-100 points, it would match your GPA much more. Good luck, and great job with your 4.0!
oh..I just noticed you already applied...well good luck you have a good shot still. You can't get better than a 4.0 and colleges like to see a strong workload. I think you have a decent shot at getting in ...

u passed the class or something?"

Sorry about not posting it well. They fell under the category of "Certificate of Achievement in (given to the best student in a class)." They should have been indented under this heading, but I forgot to add the spaces. I explained on my app. that the "best student" was determined not only by grade (usually w/i 1-2% of top grade or actually have the top grade in the subject), but also by contribution to the class as a whole (they are given by teachers). I guess I should have clarified that better.

yah... hope u did in ur application as well haha

Wahoohopeful, you are going to get in, lol. My resume is almost identical to yours, except for the Standardized Tests. For some reason, I did very poorly and got in the 1700s. I'm taking them again, but I don't know if it will be enough. I live in VA, but I still feel my scores will prevent me from getting in.

Hey,
I am currently a senior living in VA and am really hoping that I can get into UVa. I have a 4.09 GPA, I have taken 5 AP classes. I got a 1940 on the SAT and a 1240 on the 1600 scale. I have been a four year starting varsity goalkeeper, disctrict qualifier in the 55m hurdles in track. I was second team all district selection in soccer. I am in NHS, spanish honor society, english honor society, music honor society, spanish honor society, and science honor society. I am active in Key Club International and am the chair of the American Diabetes Association section. I volunteer in physical therapy over the summer at the hospital. I am in the National Council on Youth Leadership (youth salute) and was Ruritan club representative at the freedom foundations leadrhip summit in PA. I am also a rep. in teh Student council association. I have also been in teh Olympic Development prgram since the eigth grade. ODP identifies the nations top soccer players for competition at the international level. I have also volunteered as a goalkeeper coach at the local middle school and have been compensated for training youth in for a local club. I hold a part time job at petsmart. I volunteered in the 2008 election at a specific district and helped run things at the district. My writing skills are pretty good and I am confident in my essays. I figured it best to get some outside opinions if anyone would be able to help out a little bit.

sorry for the quality of my writing....i was rushed

yeah if you were in va i'd say in automatically. regardless, i think you'll get in.

chance back?
