What are my chances at Harvard and Stanford? NEED SERIOUS ANSWERS HOPEFULLY FROM PAST STUDENTS.

<p>I'm a senior who is applying to Harvard and Stanford as my top two schools this year (class of 2018). I am Asian (keep that in mind) and I fear that my SAT score is too low to get in, and my GPA is low. What are your opinions on this?</p>

<p>Academics:
Weighted GPA: 4.282
Total of 9 APs, two 5's, two 4's, and one 3 (junior year). All core classes are honor classes.
Ranking: ~10-15 out of 535.
Grades: Upward trend from freshman to junior year: 3 B+, 6 A-, and 13 A's. Senior grades sort of slacking: 2 B+, 1 A- and 4 A.
SAT score: 2070. Superscore: 2140. ACT: N/A</p>

<p>Essay: Very confident about it. Well written, mature, and professional editor edited it.
Extracurriculars: Pretty confident about it. National Honor Society Officer, Co-President Science Olympiad Team, and several other high up positions in school organizations showing strengths in science/math, service and music, summer internship at NGO research group in environmental protection, good work experience</p>

<p>Major Honors/Awards: National Merit Semifinalist. AP Scholar with Distinction. National Honor Society Officer, a bunch of piano competition awards
Interview: Pretty well in my opinion.</p>

<p>ORM, low SAT, lacking ECs. Harvard and Stanford are huge reaches. All of your ECs and awards you listed are completely generic and nothing stands out. I don’t mean to be harsh, I’m just telling you like I see it. What other schools are you thinking of applying to? </p>

<p>Nothing special, your scores are a bit low, and that AP exam 3 won’t do you any favors… Good luck though.</p>

<p>You do need much stronger test scores for these 2 schools. Nevertheless, just having great test scores and GPA still not sufficient for schools like these.</p>

<p>I don’t see you making the cut at those two schools, simply because there are so many more with profiles like yours rejected. No special outstanding reason to take you. Look at the stats of the kids who have been accepted to these two schools in the past from your high school. If your high school has Naviance, it would show the picture pretty clearly as to where you need to be in order to be within striking distance fo acceptance.</p>

<p>Actually, it’s not the SAT scores. It’s the B’s. The NGO and work are the only out of school experiences. And, we don’t know if the “pro editor” knows one iota about college app essays. </p>

<p>Reaches for both, sorry but you are not academically qualified nor are your ECs special. If your essay is out-of-this-world amazing then sure i can see it happening, but for now no. </p>
