What are my chances at IU?

Hi, I am currently a second semester junior and was wondering if I have a good chance at IU Kelley next year. I will be applying regular decision this time next year.

GPA: 3.6
SAT: 2130 (740m) (630cr) (760w) superscored
Courses: Graduating with 8 or 9 AP’s & 6 Dual enrollment classes
-3’s on AP gov exam and AP world exam (rest I am yet to take, however I’d imagine I’ll get 3’s 4’s maybe 5’s)
-Taking AP calc AB as a junior
-The rest of my classes have been honors

Race: Indian but born here
Preferred Major: Finance
Out of State: GA

EC: -Elected class president both sophomore & junior year
-Homecoming court sophomore year
-Founder and president of animal rights activist school club
-JV and Varsity soccer
-Intern for the City of Roswell’s government (community development, GIS software)
-Lead role in school productions
-President of MSA (Muslim students association)
-Many volunteer hours at animal shelter
-I tutor kids in math in my neighborhood
-I have also been a lifeguard all through high school
-Have been playing electric guitar since 6th grade (in a band, and run a small business giving lessons)

Given all this, where do I stand, and do you think I have a good shot at regular decision next year, or should I apply early…?

I still have time from here till then so I’m open to all thoughts\advice and criticism.

Thanks,

Sorry, not this time next year but around November…

Your chances of getting into IU are probably about 99.99% If I were you, I would try as hard as I could to raise my GPA to 3.7 though. You have the SAT score already to direct admit to Kelley, you just need to gain .1 on your GPA. IU doesn’t offer early decision, but the priority deadline is November 1. Make sure you apply before then! Also check out this link for direct admit information

Also, congratulations on a successful high school career. Your ECs and test scores are excellent. The only thing holding you back from scholarships is the GPA. I don’t know if the one you gave is weighted or not, but IU does take the weighted GPA. Obviously I don’t know how hard your school is, but unfortunately IU cares more about the number than difficulty of school

Thank you very much, unfortunately that is my weighted GPA. Thank you for your input.

@hkian9 No problem - also, are you going to take AP Literature and comp or AP Language and comp? If you get a 4 or better on either of these exams, you can test out of fresman English at IU. If you aren’t taking these exams and are set on IU, I would retake the SAT and try to get a 670 in CR. A 670 critical reading score allows you to get out of W131, which can be a hard English class. Just something to think about

Actually, I have taken both ENGL 1101 & ENGL 1102 which are the freshman college English classes in GA via Dual Enrollment. Hopefully these would transfer as equivalents?
Thanks again
