*** Since my freshman year, i had a constant meeting with my business teacher and few weeks ago, I sold 100 mouse pads that I brought imported from other countries to school and donated the profit to the school. I might do some more next year: 9-11 maybe 12.

And I'm probably going to do some track and Field this and next year.

So I want to know what my chances are. NYU stern is my dream school.

For NYU and cornell, Im going to apply for business major and for UCLA and berkley i will apply for engineering major.
ED for NYU
If I have to develop in some areas, what are they?

With current SAT reading(it’s really low as you know)NYU Stern, Cornell, UCLA, UC berkley all are reaches. However if you manage to get decent reading score(630?),

UCLA/UCB-low reach(not many APs, EC seems to be week)
NYU stern: reach(same)
Cornell: reach(reach for everyone)

GPA is very fine. You can retake SAT and get a good scores in all section in ONE sitting(UCLA doesn’t superscore)
What seems to be lacking is your ECs-they are not particularly standing out compared to other business major applicants many of who(but not all) do small business or business-related activities besides club activities. So, unless you can allocate times wisely and have enough energy to do all the other stuffs, I recommend against doing sports.

Also, these four schools are not safeties for anyone at all, so you might want some safeties and matches like Indiana University, which has very good undergraduate business program.

I slightly disagree.

With those weighted GPAs, I’m guessing your unweighted is like 3.8?

Let’s say your SAT went up as high as you say it will, which I doubt, and you get a 2100 SAT. (which would still be superscored, and not as impressive)

from there you have the expected AP or IB schedule. But you are still not full AP/IB which is more satisfactory. You have pretty much no ECs of any kind that are impressive at all. Your not involved in sports. I don’t see any community service. You have no awards, or state competitions, or anything.

BUT ALL HOPE IS NOT LOST. You still have time! After reading what I have said I hope it motivates you. You need to do more if you want to get into NYU stern or Cornell. Unless you are a minority, have legacy, or some other hooks or something, pretty sure you won’t be admitted. Same for Berkeley.

You need to improve your SAT score. Many are surprised that they retake the SAT and even get a lower score. It is statistically more likely. I forget the exact percentage but more people who retake the SAT after a certain threshold of I think around 650 or so (per section), perform worse. I would recommend aiming for 2200 or so to help out your lack of ECs and an unimpressive GPA.

Next, find relevant ECs will LEADERSHIP POSITIONS. don’t just become president of some stupid club that doesn’t do anything. Make a real difference. Do something. Teach someone, Help someone. Don’t just go on a mission trip for no reason. Be unique.

Prove me wrong. I want you to get in, I wish everyone could. But you won’t if your just like everyone else. And right now I don’t see anything special.

Good luck dude.
