What are my chances at NYU?

I'm a senior in High School. My GPA is 3.7, weighted, will probably be around 3.8 at end of semester. My ACT is a 32.

I had a 4.5 GPA until the second semester of sophomore year when I started screwing up, and i screwed up till about the end of Junior Year. My GPA dropped to a 3.7. My entire life, I ha dbeen moving, so when I finally got established at a school and became popular, I couldnt handle academics with it. Now i've learned to handle it. I'm back to all A's and one B in 6 AP classes. The NYU rep said they will consider this year's grades.

My extracurriculars are Okay. I have about 300 volunteer hours at a local High school. I am a DECA officer for school and qualified for the National Competition last year. I did Debate. I did Key Club. I worked numerous numerous hours on the Romney Campaign showing my interest in politics.

Do i still stand a chance?

I live in NYC and I know that NYU sets a certain threshold that usually cannot be made up for with extracurriculars. That means if one year, they say the threshold is 3.5, 2150 SAT, it’s likely that 90% of their class is going to have those stats or above. There are very insistent on keeping your stats looking good.

I’d say- target, low reach.

Chance me!

About a 3.0 Weighted GPA 2nd semester sophomore year/junior year? Sorry, but I really think that’s going to kill you. It’s a reach. Write a solid essay explaining why you struggled and why you will bounce back.
