What are my chances at NYU?

Yes, another NYU question.

Anyway,

My GPA is a 3.6 unweighted, 4.5 weighted. Freshmen year I got a 3.6, with 4 honors classes since AP classes are not allowed to be chosen by Freshmen at my school. Sophomore year was disastrous. My GPA was real low - 3.1. I suffered from post traumatic stress disorder. My dad died from brain cancer, mom had a heart attack and my grand mom developed Alzheimer's. It was just so damn hard to concentrate on school, and sometimes I didn't even have time for homework. I put family first. Junior Year was my highlight - 3.85, 4 AP Classes, 1 honors.

SAT - 2050

ECS
Made it to nationals in DECA - a big business competition (hopefully they will highly upon that since I want to major in business)
FBLA - made it to states
Varsity Debate Champion for 3 years - 1 of 4 members
Ultimate Frisbee Team (haha, geeky sport I know)
French Club
Poetry Club
I manage a team for the Race for Hope, which raises 2000 dollars every year
Volunteer at Senior Citizen Home
Volunteer at a mentally challenged place - Help kids with disabilities play sports
Volunteer at Kindercare

And..I'm Jewish haha, if that counts for anything.

What are my shots at NYU?

I think you have a fair chance given the circumstances and if you mention the reason why your sophomore GPA dipped.

Maybe retake the SAT? A 2100+ will help a lot for Stern.

I feel that your ECs are a bit random (no offense), I would emphasize the first two you mentioned as they relate to Business.

If you really explain why the GPA dipped, I don’t think it’ll be a problem at all. Only 35% of admitees at NYU had a high school GPA of 3.75+. But definitely explain why it happened. You have a decent shot.

Very good.
(It would help if your GC wrote about your extenuating circumstances in his/her write-up)

I think the SAT is worth a re-take to see if you can hit the magic 700 on each section. If that were to be the case, I would think that NYU would be a match and you should probably reach for some schools a bit higher-up in the food chain (assuming you are only looking at big U’s and not LAC’s, then you might be a reasonable candidate for WUSTL, UofC and NWU as well).

What are your math SAT 1 and 2 scores? Is your family able to pay full price? If you need much financial aid, NYU is not a school to fall in love with.

are you kidding me! I believe you are definitely in:) my cousin got in with a 3.5 but 8+ APS. You went through all of that stress and managed to get a 4.5 weighted. That’s incredible!!! However, NYU is a very costly school! Try out for scholarships because money could be a problem!!!
