What are my chances at Pomona, Claremont McKenna College, USC, UCLA, UCSD, Rice U, and more?

I’m not sure if I agree with your logic @UCh0peful… Oh well.

Also, others who chance me, can you specify strengths, norms, and weaknesses? Thanks so much  I will try to chance you back or comment on your threads!

I don’t know much about a few of the colleges you applied to except the UC’s lol

Pomona: Reach
Claremont McKenna: Reach
USC: Match
UCLA: Match
UCSD: Low match
Rice: Reach
NWU: Reach
Berkeley: Match
UCD: Low match
UCSB: Low match

Grades and test scores are great, congrats. ECs are pretty good too. DO NOT write your essay about Cancer especially if you know someone who has it. That is a very generic essay. You have all of the standard bases covered, so now go do some unusual fun stuff that can make you unique.

Can someone explain to me the difference in selectivity between the Claremont Colleges and schools like USC/UCLA?

@mandalorian that’s great. Thanks for the comment  I’m planning on writing my essay, weird enough, about my hair. It’s weird, but its an extended metaphor of sorts? I just started writing it.

What do you mean unusual fun stuff?? Haha maybe I have done something of that sort and just didn’t think it was relevant? Do you mind explaining? thanks for your help.

Claremont McKenna College: match
USC: match
UCLA: match
UCSD: match
Rice University: slight reach
UCD: safety
UCSB: match, I wouldn’t call a UC school safety
UCB: reach
Northwestern: low reach
Pomona:reach

Thanks for chancing me! For anyone else, please chance me at <a href=“Any idea of colleges I could get into? - College Search & Selection - College Confidential Forums”>Any idea of colleges I could get into? - College Search & Selection - College Confidential Forums;

@missworld7 What can I do to make Rice a match? I’m going to apply early. Also, planning on getting the ACT score up. With great recs and essay, could it be a match?

I’d say, get the ACT up with great recs! :)

Sounds good! Thanks for your help :)

Great chance for the UC’s, write good personal statements!

Thanks  I will!

@BassGuitar

What about Boston University??

Pomona - Low reach
Claremont McKenna College - Low reach
USC - Match
UCLA - High match
UCSD - Match
Rice University - Low reach
UCD - Match
UCSB - Match
UCB - High match
Northwestern - Low reach

Get your ACT up and some good SAT IIs in, and you’ll be good.

Is a 33 equivalent to about a 2190 on the SAT?? @tanboyrunfast

Yes, according to conversion charts. But because the ACT has less variance than the SAT, the comparison doesn’t always transfer exactly.

Got it  Thanks!

Claremont only admits about 12%, that’s the problem with it–it’s getting near Ivy %'s, so it’s a reach of some sort for almost everyone. Living OUTSIDE of California would help your chances, as CMC really wants to be a “national” school, so wants as many students from out of state as possible increasingly.
