Hi,

I am a grad student, currently working on my portfolio for RISD and others.. I am going to apply for an MFA, then a month later perhaps a BFA if I don't get into anything the first time around. I have a BA in Philosophy with a GPA that got stronger in the end. It became a 3.2 just counting the last 2 years, but was a miserable 2.9 counting all 4 academic years. I spoke w/ a RISD counselor and they said that they take into consideration the latest grades with more respect than the first ones.. I need any advice on my portfolio, and a critique on the works I have finished so far. I have much better stuff coming, so right now the thing has less than 2/3 finished. Still, it shows something. Basically need to know if chances are low or high.

Here is my website with 1/3 portfolio: Artist : Benjamin Adelmann

The still life you see is the first I ever painted, so I learn fast. I'm working on much more original things now, going to have a set of 5 as "classical realism", then 5 as my own abstract work with an original philosophy behind it, then another 5 as a series of still lifes in some interesting mediums like drypoint and aquatint (sorta like Mary Cassatt). Any suggestions, advice, critique welcome. Thank you!
