I think you’ve got a good chance. Your SAT score would benefit from a 100 points or so, but you’ve got the class rank and the awards etc. If you’re not retaking tests I would send that app in. I know three of my friends already got their admission decisions! Good luck!

Also, you may want to check out Philadelphia University, Delaware Valley, and Drexel.

Could someone give me some insight please? Temple’s my top choice, but I’m concerned I won’t get in. I don’t have the best academic track record, mostly B’s and C’s (the occasional A, three D’s and one F on my transcript of four years) but first term of my senior year I’ve done really well.

CP English, A+
Zoology, A+
Honors Sociology, A
Honors Spanish 5, A-
Creative Writing, A-
CP Precalc, B
-High Honor Roll
I have a 2.79 cumulative unweighted GPA, but it’ll be raised quite a bit after my recent grades.

I have a really good essay, and awesome teacher recs. I’m wondering how much they’ll consider my senior year grades? They’re the only thing that’ll save me at this point! As for extracurriculars, I’ve captained Relay for Life teams for two years, and am on the planning committee, I’ve done mission work in New Orleans, and a whole bunch of hours with my church (153 total). I know this is a lot, but if someone could please give me some idea as to my chances of getting accepted, I’d REALLY appreciate it!!!
Thanks!

At the admissions presentation I attended, they said that Temple is looking for a GPA of 3.2 and CR/M of 1100.

I believe that admissions to Temple is largely numbers based.Your SATs look above average but GPA is below average. I honestly don’t know how it will turn out, but good luck and let us know!

You might also consider looking at Drexel, as I think they have a more holistic admissions process and might take into account your upward trend in grades, essay and teacher recs.

If you are a NJ Stars Nominee, you really should take advantage of that incredible opportunity. In this economy, the ones who are prudent now will be so much better off in the end.
