Your stats and your extracurriculars are amazing. You have about just a good of a chance as all other kids applying. If you have hooks, that’ll help. Be keen on your essays and be strategic with choosing your recommenders. Also, I think you Key Club work is particularly admirable, along with your national successess. Hopefully you were actove in the summer. I wish you much success in the process.

@univbound101 Thanks for your thoughts! Are you in the college admissions process now or already in college?

I am in the college admissions process @lalaloves I have to add that you have an amazing number of APs with amazing scores. You got this!

Wow, that’s seriously impressive! My high school didn’t even allow you to take gov/econ/psych until senior year! If you don’t get in I wouldn’t know who would! Is there a first choice you had in mind?

There’s no doubt your stats and ECs are spectacular. What intended major are you going for? Biology?? I would say you have a real good shot if your essays are spot on

@univbound101 Good luck with your admissions! We got this!

@sam7862 Why does your high school do that? AP Psych is an easier AP class in my opinion. Are you applying to college now or already in college? I don’t have a specific choice in mind yet, but I want to go to a good school.

@arjundupa I want to major in something Biology related, because it is interesting to me. However, maybe once I go to college, I might have changed my mind or something. Are you in college or applying?

I am a senior applying this year.

Applying to reaches is fine. Just make sure that you also choose a few matches and at least one safety also. You should like (strong academic/environmental/social fit) and be able to afford all the schools to which you apply.

@arjundupa Good Luck!

@prezbucky I will for sure apply to a few other schools, thanks for tips!

Hey fellow Key Club LTG!

You are definitely a very competitive applicant for the Ivy League! Your grades and SAT are stellar, and you have some pretty impressive awards. I did notice that the breadth of your extracurriculars is a little less than usual for a student of your caliber, but that could be overlooked. With good essays and recommendations, I expect you’ll get into a few of your top choices. Good luck!

Nice stats, but why are you taking AP Calc AB again?

@koolguy654 That was a typo, it should say AP Calc BC.

@pineapple86 Hey! Thanks for your thoughts. Could you explain a bit more about what you mean by " I did notice that the breadth of your extracurriculars is a little less than usual for a student of your caliber, but that could be overlooked." Thank you!!!

You only described three extracurriculars: Key Club, History Day, and International Biology Olympiad. You have one of the highest levels of leadership in Key Club and won national awards for your other ECs, which is very impressive. However most very competitive (and matriculating) applicants to the Ivy League will have been involved in more ECs, especially since two of your ECs consist of one to three-times a year competitions.

There are those applicants that may only do one or a few activities, but they dedicate practically all their time to that activity, such as a competitive figure skater who skates 40 hours a week and regularly competes at the national/international level. To me, Key Club, History Day, and International Biology Olympiad wouldn’t really be those activities.

Basically, I’d expect someone with your abilities/leadership potential to be involved in more ECs. But this is just my perspective. I still think you have a good chance at the Ivies. Good luck!

@pineapple86 I see your perspective. However, NHD does take a lot of time to produce a quality project. I’m not sure how familiar you are with it, but students create projects starting in June and present their projects anywhere from January in districts to nationals in June the following year. I’m going to stick to what I love to do, I’ve tried a lot of things the past years and I didn’t really like any of them that much. What EC’s are you apart of? What grade are you in?

*UPDATE

Sorry it took me so long to finally write an update. I got accepted early action to Harvard, and I’m anxiously awaiting my regular admissions results. Also my course load this year is pretty intense along with my EC’s, but I hope everyone is doing great! @arjundupa @pineapple86 @prezbucky @sam7862

Great job!! I’m sure you worked really really hard. Congrats!
