What are my chances at the ivy level? Please Rate!!

hi,

i'm a mixed asian male from virginia and i goto a high school ranked 100 in the nation and a school district ranked top 10% in nation...i wonder what my chances are?

I've only taken the SATs once:

SATs: 710CR, 770M, 780W

SATIIs: Math LV1: 730, Math LV2: 780, Bio 770

Freshman Year GPA: 3.06
Sophomore Year GPA: 3.80
Junior Year GPA: 3.70
Senior Year GPA: Don't know yet.

AP Gov

I have not taken AP Physics and I only have 1 year of foreign language.

By the end of senior year, I will only have 6 AP courses. (My school offers over 20) - Hopefully that won't significantly lower my chances.

Please rate my chances at the Ivy Level and the reach/match schools!

I'm really unsure because I don't have an impressive academic record nor do I have impressive course selections (1 year of foreign language). I'm almost completely relying on my SAT scores.

Thanks a lot!

I got a C+ in Biology, C in AP Statistics (Sem1), A in AP Statistics and a C+ in Spanish 1.

The rest are As and Bs.

You have a chance, just keep your GPA up. I like your ECs.

^^bump^^bump^^bump^^bump^^bump

c'mon guys, I need an opinion!!! Please!

I'll be applying to the following:

Harvard
Princeton
MIT
Stanford
Georgetown
Berkeley
Johns Hopkins
U-Penn
UVA
UFL

You have a very good shot. I notice that debate is your passion. Make sure to "market" your brag sheet as to make them seem like a hook.

"I'm almost completely relying on my SAT scores.

If that's what you are relying on, you would be an average or so applicant at HPS and Penn. The "average" applicant, including all the legacies (didn't take that into account), development admits, desired URMs, recruited athletes, published novelists, etc. has between a 1:11 and 1 in 5 chance. Your grades would put you signficantly less than average.

Do you have any idea of your rank, even if its not published?

we dont rank, but i should be in top 10% estimated.

Don't most schools require more than one year of a foreign language? That may compromise getting into 1st-tier schools despite your scores....

With your GPA averaging out to around 3.5, your chances at MIT, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, and Penn are extremely low. I think you have a good shot at the rest of them.

Yeah, the 1 year of foreign language will hurt you. Most top schools recommend 4 years.

Low probability of HYPS, with a small exception for P (legacy). You should have a reasonable shot (but not necessarily a match) at your other schools. Some schools put a significant weight on grades over scores.

Just did a quick glance at Cornell's website...it basically says that for nearly all schools except for agriculture requires 3 years of foreign language. If you don't meet this (which you don't) they said you need to have a good explanation. Do you? Are you bilingual or did the classes just not fit into your schedule because of multiple APs or what-not. 1 year of foreign language is very poor for even state schools...so hopefully you have a good excuse if it's a requirement!

Are you taking only three courses this year?

Your GPA is too low and the lack of foreign language will kill you.

c's aren't looked upon fondly, and you could use another sat2

you might have a good chance at princeton!

Ya, your lack of a foreign language will hurt you at almost any "great" school

thx for the feedback..

my explanation for the 1 yr foreign language is that I am bi-lingual, i can speak mandarin and that i think later on in the future the US will be doing more and more business with asia and i dont think spanish will help me there...i do plan on majoring in international business

also, i transferred highschools 4 times - it wont fit my schedule
