What do you guys think? Do I even have a chance, or am I doomed for the beginning lol? Be as harsh as possible! Thank you :)

I laughed a bit at your username haha.
Us desis really are desperate… to get into some sort of med school.
As per your stats, I’d be interested to see what other people think about your chances. The one thing that stuck out to me was the GPA but I’m not sure if that will adversely affect your admission so much.

haha, you know, just a typical day in the life of a desi. parent pressure, peer pressure, DESI COMMUNITY PRESSURE…can’t handle that kind of attention lol. I’m hoping my GPA will go up, because i’m taking 4 AP classes…but we’ll see how it goes by the end of first quarter lol.

Additional Detail:

Conducting a research project starting junior (still continuing) with a few friends and the help of our amazing ap biology teacher :)

Although, I dunno how much Siena would take that into account…they are more focused on volunteering. I’m sure RPI would like it, but I’m not sure that’ll make my app a deal breaker. I think I have a better chance at Siena (or am I being too optimistic)?

Also, let me know if any of my EC’s are just fillers. It’ll help me out, plus make me look a little less crazy when the admins see my application.

Here’s some of the program requirements as well:

[Program Requirements](http://www.siena.edu/pages/2134.asp)

(sorry for all these darn posts and what not, my username describes my situation status quo xD)

I’m in one of the programs with AMC and I can’t really say for sure. My GPA was perfect but my SAT was around 2100. I also didn’t really have any research experience or volunteering but I had some nice internships which probably showed I could work in a professional environment. I assume that made me stand out, since none of my peers in the program had anything similar. Just apply and try to make yourself stand out. They have like 1,000 apps from all three programs combined so try to make yours different. Once you get an interview, the hard part is over (at least it was for me).

I think you have a good chance! The volunteering really helps for Siena since they’re more of a humanities based program. Which other ones are you applying to? Good luck! I’m applying too :)

If you can get in some more volunteer hours, you’d probably be better off for it. Sienna REALLY cares about Rural med and Volunteer work. My brother’s GPA was lower than yours but he had close to 800 volunteer hours and he got into Sienna.
Good luck, I’m applying too!

Thanks guys! I completely forgot about this post lol. I haven’t checked it in over a month. I’m also applying to the Union/AMC, St. Bonaventure, SUNY Stony Brook, Brown’s PLME, Baylor/Rice, and the UT Dallas one. I was thinking about RPI/AMC, but I realized I didn’t have much research experience. Good luck to both of you! Maybe we’ll see each other at interviews :D

Hey guys,
Does anyone know when we get the interview results? Have they already come out?

@IndianD[Change this name…:)]Girl
Did you get the supplement from Union yet? They have just started to release it. If you have not yet received it don’t worry it is done on a rolling basis. I think St Bonaventure interview invitations have already been released. Don’t know about the others.

Have you received any interviews or supplements so far?

Hey,
Nope, I haven’t heard back yet. Siena told me the results would be coming out this week though…so we shall see! Hopefully I hear back from Union as well.

I heard from Siena- I got an interview!

Congratulations peppermint! Good luck! Is the interview with AMC or Siena?

it’s a panel interview with people from siena and amc

@peppermint, Congratulations and good luck!

Did Siena/AMC require a supplement from AMC prior to inviting for the interview or they skip that step. RPI and Union students got a supplement from AMC first. Also, how did Siena notify you (email or snail mail)?

i got an letter in the mail from siena and I have to fill out the AMC supplement by Jan 25

Wow you are getting more than a week to do the supplement. Most others only had one week. Go peppermint Go!

@Midhelper: what program did you apply for?
