I know there are a bunch of threads about this, however since I am an undergraduated student from Germany, I do not have a GPA. Probably you are not familar with the German High School, however I would say that I am slightly above average.´( From a scale ranging from 1 to 10 my grades were something like 6 or 7, but keep in mind that the German education is tougher than yours ( no offense ) ).
My SAT scores are : CR 620 Math 680 WR 620
TOEFL : 109

I had very standard activities :

community service : class representative, student of trust, tutor, charities
extracurricular act. : I spend a lot of my time with sports. On the one hand I do it for myself and on the other hand I coached a soccer team. Furthermore I am really intersted in nutrition and cooking. I teached myself a lot about nutrition and enjoy cooking.
awards : well there are three little awards, nothin special though. I received them in a math competition , for an scientific essay and in a sports competition.
work experience : well a lot, since I tried to earn money for college ( I dont want to list them all, but all in all I spent far more than 1000 hours on working )

What do you think are my chances ? As already mentioned, I am not very special. It's just a dream to study abroad ;)

Well, I’m not sure what your GPA in Germany converts to, but try to raise your SAT scores to at least 2000. As for your EC, I think your work experience is pretty high (especially if you did about 1000 hours!). Just write good essays and hope for the best
I’m sure you’ll get into a UC as they look highly on international applicants (as they get more money from them)

a 7/10 is around a C, in GPA terms that fairly low, around a 3.0… But with a SAT around that id say you would be a sure shot to UC merced or Riverside easily

Yes but as already mentioned , a ‘C’ is harder to achieve in Germany than in the USA.
I just wonder, if I should apply for a worse college ( merced, riverside ) or apply for community college and try it again in 2 yeasr at better universities ( UCLA , USC ).

I would say just because I dont know German grading to apply to the Uc schools and see how it goes… If it fails, it fails… Go to Community, get good grades, and you’re a sure shot in a top ranking UC

Yeah thats probalby the best solution. But what should I do if I get on the one hand accepted at Merced for example but could on the other hand study 2 years later at UCLA ? It’s a tough decision, to be honest.

I dont know if to write in German or English now
Think it’s better to discuss this in English.
My GPA is slightly above 10, on a scale from 1-15 ( I think youre familar with this gradin system ).
