What Are my Chances at these Communication/Journalism Schools?

I think vaccaro is in the NY Post? am i correct?

I did some search on SBU and One of my favs Adrian Wojnarowski is from their!

@Nick2018 Mike Vaccaro is a Bonaventure graduate and considered one of the top sports journalists. Yes he writes for the Post. Adrian Wojnarowski has been named twice by AP has a top sports journalist. The founders of ESPN are Bonaventure graduates.

The journalist that wrote the Pulitzer Prize winning piece on the Columbine shootings is a Bonaventure graduate. Dan Barry of the NY Times is a Bonaventure graduate. He writes the Pulitzer prize winning column “This Land”. Seven Pulitzer winners are graduates.

The school has Edward R. Murrow, Tim Russert Foundation winners as well as Peabody Award winners. The Washington Press club also honors Bonaventure grads with the Mark Hellinger Award. I already mentioned the Murray Foundation Scholarships, 11 winners.

Neil Cavuto has won many awards for business journalism. He is a Bonaventure graduate.

It is one of the best.

Is it a Hard school to get into?

@TurnerT @MYOS1634 I would like to really thank you for your help, very appreciated. I just have one questions. Whats transferring like? I was looking at CUNY Hunter and Maybe Oswego as a “Safety” (More So Hunter) since my schools naviance says i in the 25th Percentile for it and How would it be if i started their and transfered to i.e. NYU Journalism, Cuse Newhouse, Florida School of Journalism. Etc.

Do you mean that you’re in the TOP 25%? Because if you’re anywhere between the bottom 25% and the median, it’s a reach and your odds are low.

84 is a 3.0., 86 is 3.3.

What’s your parents’ budget?
Some colleges will meet need, but others will not. You need to run the Net Price Calculator on several colleges to see how much they’d cost and whether your parents could afford them.

hold, i have been miss informed then. I was informed that a 3.0 is a 85 and a 86 is 3.1… So what would be a 83? a 2.9? @MYOS1634 and Top 25th Percent and my parents from rich and are very invested in my future so they are willing to help and i also qualify for FA and maybe MA (DOubt it for most ) for schools

If your parents have money, you will only get $5,500 in loans and they’ll have to pay the rest. No you won’t get merit aid, this typically requires a minimum of 3.5/2000, or (often) higher GPA and test scores.
The “B” range has 2.7 (B-), 3 (B) andup to 3.7 (A-); so 2.65 to 3.65 = 80 to 89. An 84 is a B (3), an 86 is a B+ (3.3), and 87, 88, 89 go from 3.4 to 3.65.
Of course it depends on your school’s scale, if 87-91 = B+ then it’s different.
You can calculate your 4.0GPA yourself:
D = 1; C= 2; C+ = 2.3, B- = 2.7; B= 3; B+ = 3.3; A-= 3.7; A= 4.
Add it all up and divide by the number of classes… presto, you’ve go your actual GPA!

I have been ill informed this whole time… 3.3=89 and a 4.0 95+ tysm

http://gpacalculator.net/gpa-scale/3-0-gpa/ i was going off of this

Im so Lost lol…

No, 89 is not 3.3, since it’s almost an A- (89 =3.65).

You can calculate your GPA yourself instead of relying on an unreliable online tool.
Take your semester grades.
D = 1; C= 2; C+ = 2.3, B- = 2.7; B= 3; B+ = 3.3; A-= 3.7; A= 4.
Add it all up and divide by the number of classes… presto, you’ve go your actual GPA!

so my gpa is a 2.85? better then what i thought was a 2.6-7 2.7. Thank you for all this btw. Been a Huge help… Looking to end thi semester of soph. year with a 84(3.0) and Kick it into FULL gear second semster and Jr year. Hopefully i can finish off with a 3.1 to finish Jr year and get into Some schools i like.

@TurnerT Its been a while but are the reqs for St Bonaventure, I have been doing alot of looking at the school i.e. sports, tradition programs etc. I Finished Second Quarter of Sophomore Year with a 85.1, Im doing shakey on my Mid Terms because I have no memory of stuff i did in the first quarter because i did so bad. My First Semester for Sophomore Year should be 83ish maybe close to a 83.5 so round to 84, I should be able to get it up to a 86 next Semester because im dropping art and taking Computer apps because the art teach doesnt like me lol. But How Would my SAT/ACT scores be and around a 84-85 HS Average be to get into SBU. According to SBU wit those stats i would get 16K in aid too
