@tomofboston I am aiming to get a 32 on the ACT. Would that be sufficient, statistically, for these schools? Also my UC GPA, which I just calculated, is a 4.09.
A 32 or 33+ ACT would help your odds because your UW GPA is slightly lower than preferred for your top schools despite great ECs. As of now you’d conservatively get in at least a 1/3 of the schools on your list and with higher test scores probably at least one of the higher ranked choices.

Obviously, everything is not perfect with your stats, but it’s not bad at all. I mean, your SAT score is even in the middle 50% for Emory, so you DO have a shot there. Get it up higher or a better score on the ACT and things will look up even more. You are taking hard classes which these schools like to see, and you got some good scores on AP tests. I’m betting that even as things are that you would get into at least one or two of those reach schools above. Good luck.
OOS students at the UC’s have to score higher than residents to be competitive.
Can you afford the OOS tuition of $55K per year for the UC’s? There is no financial aid for OOS students.
For me, 55k would be a lot, but when I used the Net Price Calculator it said that the cost would be 47k. Although still on the higher side, I hope scholarships will bring that to 40k! What are some of my chances at the other schools?
Sometimes the NPC doesn’t include the extras for UC’s. Assume $58K per the UCLA website. https://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/budget.htm
You wouldn’t qualify for the limited OOS scholarships, they have because of your SAT and ACT scores.
^^^^Forgot to add, sorry, scholarships, if any, don’t go over $5K. Your current stats won’t make you competitive for those elite few dollars. UCLA and UCB are very big reaches for you.
That is helpful… I just want to know whether I stand at least a chance at these schools. I will also be applying to BU, Brandeis, GTech, UT Austin, Northeastern, and some safeties (financial and chances-wise).
So could I get a further evaluation on my chances at these schools? Are there any other colleges that I should consider? Sorry, I am just updating my college lists as the summer goes by!
Your ECs are very strong in my opinion! The only thing that I would say is working against you are you test scores!
BUT remember admissions are hollistic! Never lose hope
