What are my chances at these schools?

Thanks! @ptkid16

Hmmm,I think you should for sure apply, but your test scores could be better (maybe retake) but I think your interest in music, challenging schedule, and varoius awards could set you apart! If I were you, I would play up the Indian vocal and violin because that would be unique and interesting! Good luck!

Thanks! @hopeful4444 I plan on retaking both the SAT and ACT. If I don’t get a higher score (I will try as hard to get a better score) I hope my test scores don’t bring me down too much.

@tomatoes124 most colleges take a holistic approach to admissions, so while test score certainly do play a part, admissions officers often stress that they are more interested in a challenging schedule, which you have! I would say that if your recomondations and essays are great, then you certainly have a chance at many of the schools you listed.

Your extracurriculars are so impressive! Even though your scores aren’t perfect, I feel like your ECs are going to make you really stand out to colleges.

Based on the people I know who are going to BC, BU, & Northeastern, these are all target matches for you.

I can’t say for sure about Tufts, Georgetown, and Berkeley, because they’re all so competitive, but I think the holistic admissions review will really see some great stuff in you. I’d say that these are lower reaches.

I don’t know a ton about the others, but I think you’re set up to get into and go to a great school!

Your extracurriculars will definitely help you with your application, especially since they’re all related to what you want to major in. Make sure you emphasize these throughout your essays, as it shows your dedication. The only east coast school I’m really familiar with (enough to chance you) is NYU - that should be a low match for you. USC is extremely competitive with business, so it may be a high match/low reach. That being said, you should definitely apply to all the schools you listed, because it seems that you have a pretty good chance of admission to them! Good luck!

Yeah, like everyones been saying your EC are really a good selling point for you. While your SAT and ACT aren’t super high they’re not bad so I think with good essays your EC and scores work together quite well. Just keep in mind, most UC schools are quite hard to get into if your not from California, so it means you’ll have to be quite a strong applicant to get in there, but I think you could do it with your ECs. I think Tufts and Georgetown and some of those other similar schools are reaches, but I think you still stand a shot, I don’t think they’re entirely out of the picture. Good Luck!

Thanks for your input! @maddycwalker What would be my matches?

The only schools I’m familiar enough with to chance you on are the ones in CA… I agree that your test scores aren’t super high, but then, they fall within the range of scores UCLA, Berkeley, and U of Southern California typically accept. Also, as everyone else has been saying, your EC’s are really interesting and will definitely help you to stand out. High scores are not everything; I know of a CA resident with an SAT score of around 2100 who applied to and was rejected from several UCs… This student had no ECs and no volunteer work. They are looking for well-rounded students, and I think you have an average chance of getting in, especially if your essays are good.

I think UCLA is a low reach, and Berkeley would be a reach. If you get your test score up, I think UCLA would become a high match. Emory is also currently a low reach, but you could improve your chances by getting the test score up. USC in my opinion would be a high match/low reach. Chance me back?

Thanks! I am working towards a really good SAT score (<2200). I am thinking of applying to UCSD and UMich LSA. What would be my chances for those? BTW I am not applying to too many colleges, just formulating a list!
