What are my chances at these schools????

I am a junior in high school from NY. I'd like to know what you guys have to say about my chances at the following schools:

Penn-Wharton (ED), Cornell, Dartmouth, Columbia, Brown, Georgetown, NYU, Boston College, UVA, Penn State, SUNY Binghamton, Fordham and Mcgill...if you can think of any other good schools with solid business programs please recommend them.

I will graduate with 9 AP's having taken just about the most rigorous courses, the latter two years, my school offers.

Class Rank: 18/220 (Verrrrrry Competitive School...22 kids to ivies two years ago in a class of 160. 5 to Penn alone...last year wasn't as great lol...my class is amazing)

My freshmen and sophomore years were horrible I know but I just went through a time where I had little guidance and was not focused...I hope colleges will see beyond that and see what I can accomplish!!!!

PSAT's: 1930 (650V,690M,590W)

My big hook will be Tennis!!! I've been playing since I was 6...I play 15-18 hours a week since 7th grade...played Varsity Tennis at my high school since 8th grade will be captain 11 and 12 grade...played several national tournaments with some success but will hopefully get some recruiting attention from the aformentioned colleges but PLEASE ASSESS ME WITHOUT RECRUITING B/C ITS NOT GUARANTEED...just look at tennis as a very strong activity!!!

I'm veryy sorry for the length I just wanted to be thorough!!!

Anyone??? Please.....

I think you have a good shot at one of the schools like Brown or Penn if you apply early decision, but I also think you need to look beyond the Ivies and Georgetown and find some better safeties (you're too good for Fordham, come on). Try looking at some LACS. I'm sure schools like Bowdoin, Bates, Middlebury, and Haverford would love to have you, and they will provide you with a topnotch education. I personally don't think you will get into BC or UVA unless you get recruited (no offense).
Start talking to the coaches about recruitment, maybe you can play at a D3 school. Really, you are that accomplished in tennis and you don't want to play in college? As far as your other ECs go they are too typical: how many applications do you think Ivies get from kids who volunteer at soup kitchens and tutor underpriveleged kids? That's awesome that you have a job, though. Colleges love that.
All in all I think you're doing fine, and your improvement in grades is really remarkable. But please don't pin all your hopes on an Ivy. They are never a sure thing.

thx...ne1 else????????????

Come on people any body????? Just give me your thoughts

"just give me your thoughts"...ok

Along the lines of what Stain99 was saying, to me your list consists of 7 reaches (the 5 ivies plus UVa out-of state and Georgetown), 2 matches (BC and NYU but they too are selective) and 3 safeties; don't know about Mcgill. I think your list is top heavy, you need more matches or reach matches. Look for top 50 schools below the ivies.

I just noticed Hispanic. That could change things, not sure how much but it should be a boost.

Yea...i'm hoping for the hispanicity lol to give me an edge...i no i've been talking to my counselors about including some more middle top 50 schools...do u have any suggestions? Should be somewhat business oriented and must be on the east coast!!!!!

Holy crap...I can't believe i forgot to mention something that should be of some importance...I'm legacy at UVA that should help right?

Legacy at UVa and URM? Sounds good to me.

Others: Carnegie Mellon, UMich (not East Coast but good business school), Emory, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Lehigh

Might want to add Colgate or Holy Cross-both very good schools.

yea colgate's a great schoool i don't know about holy cross tho...Colgate is def. a better schoool tho

ne1 esle...help me out here people

Hello...any1????

Being a legacy at UVa will boost your chance a lot! All out-of-state legacies at UVa are considered in-state for admissions purposes. Therefore I think you have an good chance as long as you can stay in the top 10% at your school.

Some schools will count siblings or grandparents as legacies, but to my understanding at UVa only parents count

First of all, why do you think your Penn essay was so amazing?

My older sister went to Penn (Wharton), and she's currently an admissions counselor. She told me to tell you that doing the ED factor does help a minute amount, but don't be too overconfident. She was 4/554 kids, and she didn't get into a bunch of schools.

I'm just going to let you know that along with a 4.45 GPA, she had a 1540 SAT. She also had everything going for her. She got full rides to several schools, but she got rejected from Columbia. She didn't like Brown.

NYU is being really selective this year. I think you should be fine at your last couple of schools. UVA is REALLY hard to get into, especially from out of state...

and BC. I applied early action there, and I got flat out rejected. It's funny because I had a bunch of people on admissions try to help me out. But it's ok. I'm just bitter now. According to the admissions counselors, it's very difficult to get into BC if you don't go to a Catholic high school. The end.

Thnx BBDarlin i reely appreciate the reccomendations!!! I know...alll the top schools are arbitrary when it comes to admissions...Penn gets soo many great applications but they can't accept them all...anyone else have any comments?

You're senior year is gonna be CRAZY. Consider University of Chicago, their economics is flippin good, as well as their bio.

your stats are good too, but some of the SATs might hold you back.

better chances than me, though

yea..i know u. chicago is a very good school but i heard its reely a geeks/nerds haven...all they do is study and social life is left behind in the dust

Michigan should def be your second choice if you want business. Perhaps 3rd after Columbia but it should be Wharton/Michigan or Columbia....the rest.
GoodLuck

yea but wut about NYU-stern...and isnt Michigan reely hard to get into out of state???
