This summer i am volunteering at the local hospital

Holding a job at Barnes and Noble.

I have a double legacy at Brandeis, and my parents were head of the county alumni assosication so im going to get in there. Do you think ill get into any schools that rate higher than Brandeis i.e. cornell, upenn columbia brown etc

I am a white male from lower NY, not NYC though by the way

Here are the schools:
Brown, Dartmouth, Columbia, Cornell, UPENN, Brandeis, Amherst, Hopkins.

I am also going to apply to MIT poly sci department. I knew if i was a math person, i would have no chance. But i hear that if you apply poly sci, they like non math whiz people to give a variety to their class.

dude, u got a 1490, and your worried, i had a 1450, and got into mannnny top 20 schools like 7 to be exact, u r fine.

Columbia/Dartmouth/MIT Reach
Brown/UPenn - low reach
Cornell/Hopkins/Northwestern/Chicago high match / low reach

yea well a few people i know just got wait listed at cornell with 1550 and 1570 respectively and both had solid grades for cornell. I'm not worried, just curious what you guys think.

hence, why i wrote high match/low reach, no school in the top 15, can be a true match, it's a lottery.

yeah, but we're your friends "know everything - involved in nothing significant" type students?

no, they did academic challenge, choir etc. I really dont know what happened there.

yea he was deferred, but that was harvard, and his gpa wasnt close to good enough for harvard. to have a chance at harvard, you need at least 3.85 UW.

yea, my school doesn't do gpa, so whenever people talk about it, i'm like, uuuugghh?!

well if you calculate mine, it is about 3.8 UW, 4.05 ish W

what would a 97 cummulative average be?

A 97 would be atleast a 4.0

oh really? yeah, I feel special now. thanks!

PS - I'm sure 3.8 is just as good :)
