Just a note on your UC GPA - oos students may only include AP/IB courses as weighted courses, not honors, so your UC GPA may be a bit lower than you have calculated. It will not matter if you choose to enter honors courses as weighted - the UC will kindly recalculate your GPA for you.
[University of California - The scholarship requirement](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/freshman/california-residents/statewide-path/scholarship-requirement/index.html)

Oh, I re-read your statement about how you plan to enter your grades and it seems you plan to enter the grades as “weighted” on the application, rather than your actual grade received in the class. That would be incorrect according to the UC application instructions (you are instructed to eneter your UNWEIGHTED grade and then choose “Honors, AP or IB” from the drop-down menu. If you were accepted using the weighted grades (entered as though they were your unweighted), and then sent in your transcript when you confirmed enrollment (required) showing that your actual grades were lower, that would likely result in your offer of admission being rescinded.

It is best to follow the application instructions and enter your information accurately.

alright ill change it to unweighted but i called the admissions office at la and they told me that all my honors classes are acceptable and ill receive honors credit for them as long as theyre official honors classes at my school (not just titled as an honors class) which allof mine are

"my honors classes are acceptable and ill receive honors credit for them as long as theyre official honors classes at my school "

^ Wow! I’ve never heard of THAT before! My kids private California high school dropped almost all their honors classes, presumably because this was so difficult. Are they somehow tagging your application among the 57 thousand applications? Do you mind sharing any details?

ok you can message me and ask me. im sorry but i didnt waste 15 minutes writing all of that out. if you dont have information relevant to my question please dont post in my thread

You must follow the application instructions and enter your actual, unweighted grade. Then choose “Honors” from the drop-down menu. The application reader will then see that you took an honors class. It will not be weighted in the UC GPA they calculate for you, however. Please read the very specific information in the link I provided. If you choose not to follow the clear and specific instructions for the UC application, I suggest you have the full name and contact information for the individual who told you that to contact when your admission is rescinded.

in the directions it says nothing about out of state honors courses. that is why i called the admissions office of one of the UCs as they all the same application process. in-state people have an online course list per school. out of state fills in honors level depending on what is considered honors by the applicants school

there is no CLEAR AND SPECIFIC instruction about out of state honors weighting

"if you don’t have information relevant to my question please dont post in my thread "

ok, sorry.

I thought it was relevant in responding to your question, and might make it relevant for others. That is among the goals of college confidential.

For others, here’s how to see a list of “UC approved honors”.

http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/freshman/california-residents/statewide-path/scholarship-requirement/index.html</a></p>

I’m done.

My apologies. Clearly you know more than the two of us combined.

also if youre going to be bitter and sarcastic about it dont post either. its different with out of state vs instate

its not just me out of 57 thousand. its out of state kids out of 57 thousand. what happens in california private schools is different from the public school instate pool along with the outofstate pool

thats your childrens problem if their school has a problem. if you dont believe me you can go and call the ucla admissions office tomorrow when they open yourself.

im a stressed out senior just trying to figure out whether i can get into my top schools. im not looking for sarcasm and condescension from parents i dont even know

doorways under the courselists is for instate students. thats why i called. if you guys arent willing to listen to what im saying go ahead and give false information. when somethings unclear, i dont stick by an assumption i inquire. i called ucla and spoke with 3 different admissions officers. i think i should know what im talking about…not 2 moms who keep sending me the same information and dont even need to deal with the undergrad admissions process

I think that is wonderful news! I just think it would useful to share details (like a list of OOS schools/classes getting honors credit)), since it is counter to the apparently false information that has been circulated here for many years. There were 10,000 oos/international applicants to UCLA in 2010. Knowing that many are getting honors weighting for honors classes would change a lot of responses. That would be relevant for the whole forum community.

I suppose I may be a little bitter since instate students do not seem to get that level of personal attention, and my daughter did not get in in 2008…but I am getting over it.

“thats your childrens problem if their school has a problem.”

I vote and pay taxes here, it might be relevant for kids at my kids school, and that’s how a forum community works.

Good luck!

Hope this helps, apologies if I’m wasting your time / thread.
