SO is my schedule rigorous enough for Uc Davis standards. it kinda seems like i took all of the easy ap classes... also my act score is towards the low side at around 30ish but can go up like a point or two... also i might have forgotten an extracurricular activity or 2....so what're my chances at uc davis biological sciences (premed).... also, my high school is a semi-competitive public with 1500 kids.... im rank 17/406 so im like 4%ish....
please give me any suggestions thanks and my chances... in addition, please let me know if i should even take the sat becasue ive taken full-blown practice sat'
s and have gotten like 1700-1800... and, do i need sat subject tests? i read that davis "doesn't reccomend them? I don't really understand... also, is davis even good for premed... i want a balance between competitiveness and relaxed, as i want to show med schools that i didnt just go to some crappy school and get a 4.0... i want to show tem that i can get a say 3.8 at a pretty good uc...
thanks for all of the help

thanks…
haha i wanted to go there but realized that med schools (correct me if im wrong) dont care where u go to undergrad and only look at extracurrics, recs, mcats, gpa… if elt that these schools ould be too competitive…

your potential SAT/ACT score is way too high for UC Davis. My nephew is a freshman there, major in engineering. His GPA was around 3.2. SAT: 2200). He got accepted by
UCD, UCSB, UCR, UCI, Purdue.

You should aim for UC Berkely/UCLA level schools.
do take SAT bio, physics and math.
take a review course over the summer to see if you could boost your SAT score.

ps, if you are instate, i am sure you know you are guaranteed to a UC admission.

so i should take the sat even if i know that i will do poorly on it based on other practice tests? i always thought that by taking the act, you don’t even have to… and also, on the ucd website, is says that sat subject tests are not reccomended… can anyone clear that up for me please…
thank you in advance

If someone wants to go to a specific school, tell them that they can. By saying their GPA is “too high,” you merely put pressure on them to apply to a place where they might not be happy. Trust me when I say this as a current UC student, UC Berkeley and UC LA are terrible places to be for anyone, especially pre-med majors. The competitive atmosphere of high school over getting into college just becomes worse at these schools. Other students go out of their way to make sure that they’re the top of the class over anyone else. Study groups don’t form very often and people are in general rude about helping you out. Major competitive schools do one thing, and that’s to breed more competition. Whatever the nutballs on this forum tell you about getting into school or what you should do, just ignore them. The majority of them are either psychos that think the grading scale is A=Acceptable B=Bad, or are just trying to make themselves feel better about past failures by telling other peopl who are better of that they can’t do it either.

Also, to help you out subject tests are no longer required as a part of the UC application system. They weren’t looking a them before and they certainly aren’t looking at them now. I advise you don’t waste your money and time, because you’re 100% set already.

I believe UC Davis is actually a “sure” for you.
I am very happy to see someone who has such great profile still wants to go to Davis. People care too much about the schools’ prestige these days and sometimes forget to consider others equally important things.
I enjoy the atmosphere at Davis way more than I do at Berkeley and UCLA. I encourage you to GO VISIT the schools that you are considering applying because the school’s environment is super important!

Good luck with everything! You will be fine no matter where you are.

U are correct. Better to go to a easier but reputable college and score high in your class than score low at a schoolgirl Berkley where there is more competition. At Davis, you may also learn better because there I less pressure to do super. So you can score higher on mcat and get into med school

Can someone here chance me as a math major applying for Davis? I’ll give you a quick run down.
