what are my chances at UCB, UCLA, UCSD, and Reed

Based on these scores what are my chances for getting accepted to UCB, UCLA,and UCSD:

UC GPA: 4.4

SAT 1: 1990 (WILL DEFINITLEY TAKE AGAIN)

sat ii: math 2c: 670
writing ( from sat i) 710
bio: 700
chemistry; I bombed this!!! I took it just for fun to see how much I knew.... That was sooooo stupid. Got a 610!!!! (even though I have a better science, will this score just kill me)

Ec's: averge/good extracuricuar's which includes ( to name only a few) starting point guard on my varsity basketball team, teacher nominated student tutor, started a few clubs....and more! ( only like 100 hrs of community service though)

other stats: I recieved a maxima cum laude ( silver medal) on my national Latin exam.

Common somebody, I really need to know! And even if you don't know I'd still greatly appreciate it if you could tell me what you think.

Hi! Well, your UC GPA looks great; I'm assuming you took plenty of AP classes to get that high GPA. your SAT score is good, but on the low side for UCB, UCLA, and UCSD. but you said you were going to retake that. SAT IIs; well, my counslor told me that UC schools take your top two scores and take those into admission consideration. so even if you did bad on the chemistry one, (which i don't think you did horrible) it will not hurt you too much. you have good EC's; i think you have a pretty good chance! write awesome essays, and you should get into one of them.

Id say your chances into UCSD are pretty safe, (but still retake the SAT I test), your sat ii subjects are looking dandy, and your chances for UCB and UCLA are fair...but retake that test to better your chances...

Your grades are great, your test scores decent for UCSD, but the catch is going to be your EC's. UCSD places crazy weight on those and I have seen people with almost identical stats as yours get rejected from UCSD purely on the basis of less than stellar EC's. You say you only listed a few, so maybe you have more to push you over the top. But aside from that, I'd say you have decent chances. Best of luck!

djcubed88:

UCB: Slight Reach
UCLA: Slight Reach
UCSD: Match
Reed: Safety (?)

I'd retake the Math IIC. More than any other test, it lends itself for high scores-- milk it.

Need More replies.....

UCSD you're in. UCLA and Berkeley you have decent shot, but better SAT and SATII math2c will push you in those.

Plaese...anymore answers? By the way, will the poor persentiles affect my chances? 80 percentile in math ( 620)

Your UC GPA is great - no worries on that count... However, much like other posters have said - those test scores have to be improved for you to be at your most competitive for UCLA and UCB. The median scores on old SAT at least for those schools were closer to 700-ish for both schools, right? There's no reason why any of those tests should be a problem though ^_^.

Stats look good for Reed...but Reed's on the opposite end of the spectrum in size, ambience from the UC's. If you want a large U, might want to pick some other UC's as safeties.

anything more...I am desperate here!

djcubed88, what exactly are you looking for on this thread? The other posters have given you a reasonable assessment of where you stand. Your SATII Chem score does NOT matter as far as the UC admission process goes since they consider the best two SATII scores (from two different subject areas). Thus your BIO score trumps your CHEM score. Improve your SATI and you will easily get into UCSD (which is a great school). UCLA and UCB may be a little more difficult to get in, but still worth applying to.
PS. UCs may ignore your SATII Writing since you have taken the new SATI. But honestly I am not sure how they will reconcile the writing scores from the two different tests - especially if the two scores are very different. Try to retake the SATII Math2C if you are reasonably good in Math.
