What do you think my chances are at UCI? Thanks guys.

UCI--Slight Reach (in-state)

agreed
id say a slight reach

Thank you for your opinions guys. I really appreciate it. I've actually gone out to buy some SAT prep books and i'm planning to study them very hard for the remaining of the summer. Hypothetically, if i get a 3.7 first semester of senior year and raise my SAT scores by.. say 100, what do you think my chances are then?

The UCs do not consider senior year grades unless you are applying to the colleges for another year away (in other words, only if you were applying for admission in the Fall Semester of 2010 or later).

Adding an extra 100 points would be the equivalent of increasing your total from 3.65 not to 3.80, but rather to 3.90 (which would then make you a Match for UCI. However, you have to get this total in a single sitting, and you have to take the test by December at the latest (and you have to take the SAT IIs in October).

Good luck.

P.S. Actually, they do consider the senior year grades--but only if you are accepted. Then they look at your senior year grades to make sure they didn't go way down. If they do go down a lot, then they might rescind your admission (UCLA did this to over 70 people two years ago).

bump for more replies :)

Yeah slight reach because of your GPA. Just bump up your SAT scores since the UCs use a point system to calculate admissions.

Slight reach because of GPA and SAT score. A match would be something like 3.8 and 1900 SAT I think.

What do you think my chances are if i raise my SAT scores to about 1900-2000? I don't think its possible for me to raise my GPA since i'm a senior.

Get your SAT over 2000 and I think you have a good shot at getting in.
