What are my chances at UCLA or UCB?

I currently attend a CCC and am waiting to hear from Berkeley and UCLA..just wondering if anyone has an idea of my chances of getting in to either ot these schools majoring in Communications. I have a 3.8 but unfortunately did not take any honors classes.. My essays are good and I have some preparation for my major. Any information would be great..

go to the transfers forum...<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/forumdisplay.php?f=485%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/forumdisplay.php?f=485</a></p>

You should be able to get into UCB/UCLA with a 3.80 GPA.

so..you don't think it is a problem I didn't take honors classes? Thank for you info..it's so hard waiting to hear from these schools...i'm so anxious!!

your chances are ok
both schools want to see that you challenged yourself at least somewhat (with AP or honors classes or whatever) but they also want to pick out "America's future leaders" -- so basically if you did something significant in high school outside of academics, it would play a crucial role

I guess for you it will boil down to what you did outside class.
UC GPA for LA and B are on the 4.2-4.3 scales. Still it doesn't mean that it will kill your chances. Good SATs can make you a great candidate.

hes transferring as from ccc (california community college), and they do not accept sat scores from transfer students from ccc. A 3.8 is a strong gpa out of cc, you should be good at ucla and likely good at uc berkeley, however you never know with these schools. But id go out on a limb and say your almost deff in in at least one of these schools, likely both.

I'm not sure whether "hes transferring as from ccc" is directed at my post, but yes..I am a transfer student coming from a CCC. (sorry I didn't make that clear when I started this thread) Anyway..I apparently have gone under the wrong assumption that a 3.79 is a 3.8...so I actually have a 3.79. I am very nervous because I think it won't make the cut as a comm major, but I am hoping for the best. Thanks ucchris for your encouraging post. :)
