What are my chances at UGA???

Thank you so much!

I will definitely do early application if I’m comfortable with my SAT scores. I do plan on studying rigorously for the SAT and I’ll probably take it twice just to be comfortable.

I’m trying desperately to get into the National Honors Society but my GPA is a couple of points shy of the requirement. Maybe my AP Gov. grade will improve some and raise it.

Thanks again!

Drummajor: Since you want to potentially major in music, you should pay close attention to the music audition requirements.

Admissions

There are links to the right on that page that have forms, the instrument specific requirements, etc.

To be a music major, you will have a separate application and audition just for the school of music as well as your application to the university as a whole. While you are at the summer camp this year, make sure that you talk with Dr. Taylor (camp director) about your plans.

Btw, if you want to teach at the university level you will most likely need your doctorate.

Best of luck to you.

Yeah I’ve been checking out the website thoroughly over the past few months to make sure I know what needs to be done; thank you for the reinforcement!

And I will do my best to speak with or email Dr. Taylor about everything this summer.

I want to get my doctorate no matter what so I will be officially deciding what I want to do later on once I’ve done some more research.

Thank you for your help!

I am currently a sophomore and attend glen ridge high school which is the 3rd best public school in the state. I ended my freshman year with a 3.0. However I ended my first semester of sophomore year with a 3.8. I was wondering if UGA looked at improvement. My parents, ants, uncles, all went to UGA. I participate in my school activities.
What are the chances?

UGA is my top choice right now and I would really appreciate it if someone would chance me.

I got deferred and just want to know what my chances may be. I have a 3.6 gpa, 1800 on SAT’s, 4 AP’s plus 4 college English credits, 5 honors classes, and lots of extra curriculars:
marching band, section leader, district honor band, church ensemble, wind ensemble, National Honor Society, part time job, and community service

This thread is from 2005. Please make a new thread.

Here are the stats of last year’s entering class:
https://www.admissions.uga.edu/article/first-year-class-profile.html

I would say your chances aren’t fantastic, but you still have a chance.

Really? I got into Kennesaw, Auburn, and GCSU early, I know those aren’t AS hard to get in to, but I did mention in my application (when they asked if anything had changed since I was deferred) I raised my SAT scores 100 points, exceeded the service points for National Honor Society, made fourth chair district honor band, and listed grades and classes for first semester senior year. (94 average with 2 AP’s plus college english) Chances looking any better?
