I'm a male sophomore in PA. I'm new to this forum. I am interested in colleges like:
UNC, Columbia, Cornell, UPenn, Georgetown, UCLA, Michigan, UChicago, UVA, and Johns Hopkins
I want to go into medicine, so I want to major in Global Health, Biology, or maybe Political Science. As for race, I'm Indian, which reduces my chances at AA admission.

My classes are very hard, IB Honors classes.
I am scheduled to do IB Diploma, which is about equivalent to AP's, with an added thesis.

Tests:
In my PSATs I got 750m, 700v, and 650w. But I can improve these a lot with practice.

Which of the schools mentioned above would I have chances with? Any?

looks like you’re on the right track! make sure your GPA goes up. don’t worry about a huge long list of ECs, just make sure they demonstrate your passion and dedication to 1 or 2 areas, and you’ll be fine

If your GPA goes up you have a chance at all of them, but you’ll need stratospheric SATs for Stanford and Columbia. Currently Cornell, JHU, and UMich are good fits.

try your best to make ISEF, i went last year and it was an AMAZING experience. Plus I think it will be a good hook for you for the top schools you’re aiming for.

I think you have a really good chance for all of them! Just maintain your ECs and do well on your sat… apply to all of them. You’ll never know if you dont try. Good luck!

It’s still pretty early to decide seeing as your a still a sophomore and your junior year will play a humongous factor in your gpa as well as SAT’s. If you end with an upward trend on your gpa and maintain EC’s i could see you as a great competitor.

UNC high match
Columbia mid reach
Cornell low reach
UPenn, low reach
Georgetown, reach
UCLA, high match
Michigan, in
UChicago, high match
UVA, low match
Johns Hopkins high match

No school is really a match or a safety these days. I would say likelies at most. You have a good shot. Improve your writing SAT by at least 50 points, then from there try an overall 50 point increase. Good As. Do not get more than one B next year, or if you do, it must be for a super-hard course, like Physics C (AP) or an IB. Your ECs are beyond fantastic, so from here its just school and just a bit on your SAT.

As a sophomore, you should have taken two non-math SAT IIs already (and have left the main thing for junior year, when you gotten even reasoning skills.)
In Junior Year, take a Math SAT II. Most people would say the IIC looks better, but IC will not be murder for your majors.

I don’t know about most of the schools you listed but for UNC, it is hard for OOS. I know a girl from CA and she had a 4.4 and everything, denied for ED.

you have pretty good grades and by the time you take the SAT, it looks like your projected scores are good too. make sure you get your grades up a little more. and apply to safeties! but i’m sure you know that ;)

you’re in the ballpark for these schools. it’s just luck from there! best wishes!
