What are my chances at University of Florida

Hi! So I’ll be applying to UF this November and would like to get honest feedback.

Stats

30 ACT
4.0 Weighted (showed upward trend from freshman to junior year also top 25% in class)
300+ community service hours (mostly from volunteering program at my local hospital)
Two varsity sports (cross country and baseball)
National Honors Society
Safe Student Ambassadors (county chosen program to “monitor” the well-being of students at the school)
ACE Program (leadership program where 2-3 students would be selected from each school in South Florida to attend a leadership class and help in the community)
Junior Class President
Senior Class Secretary
Chess Club
Participated multiple times in my school blood drive (not sure how much this matters just thought I’d throw this in there)

Thanks for any feedback. Also, where do you think would be a fit for me if UF is out of reach. I know my GPA isn’t the greatest but I’ve taken many rigorous courses (AP Psychology, AP US History, AP English, AP Literature, AP Stats, AP Government, Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra, Honors Religion for two years, Honors Anatomy and Physiology, and Honors Marine Biology) and have done a lot of extracurriculars. Any feedback is greatly appreciated and thank you for your time

It feels like you have strong ECs and decent course rigor. The thing that would make me nervous would be your GPA, but if you’re in a competitive high school (that UF knows), being in the top 25% would seem to help. I would put significant thought into the essay.

What do you want to study? Are you in-state for Florida?

Yes I’m in state

^lots of great options then! If not UF (and let’s hope you get in if you want to), what about FSU or UCF? That’s where it helps to know what you’re thinking of studying.

honestly you should be fine

Lots of options! In-state, you should be looking at FSU, UCF or USF. Your choice of major may impact which to choose, and UCF and USF are likely to award you some merit-based scholarships.

Lots of out of state flagship public universities are within your range. Some will offer up to 2/3’s tuition merit (University of Alabama), others less. It’s only a handful (UM-Ann Arbor, UVa, UNC, UC-B, UCLA, etc.), that may be academic reaches.

Finally, you can look at some of the private schools, especially out of state. They may look expensive, but run the net price calculators to get a rough idea of how much "need-based) aid they would award… For starts, check out in-state options like Stetson, Rollins, and Eckerd.

Good Luck!
