I really want to get into UMD and especially the criminology program. I know my gpa is really bad. But what are my chances of getting in? And are there any other universities that have criminology?
Chances don’t look great, but DO NOT count yourself out. Apply ED and that could help your chances. My stats weren’t the best either, and got admitted to the Spring 2018 quarter with the option of doing freshman connection. I didn’t choose to attend, but I think you can have a chance.
Be sure to have great personal statements as that may give you a boost. Make sure your application is as specific as possible.
UMBC may be an option, but I’m not sure if they have your specific major. Are you only looking at schools in Maryland/East coast?
ashen my DD had a 3.65 gpa and a 32 ACT. She got into Freshman Connection as an OOS student in the criminology program last year. Penn State also offers a BS in criminology. Im pretty sure U of Cal Irvine does too.
Ah thank you for your advice! I’m mainly looking at East Coast but I’m also open to schools in the west coast as well.
Its worth a try but quite a reach. Take a look at James Madison.
Chance me, please?
Stats:
School: Highline Community College (Washington State)
College GPA: 3.96
Major: Biology
Intended Major at UMD: General Biology
PTK member (not even sure if that will help me)
I have taken Chem and Bio series. For Math, I only took PreCalculus I (I did not take the PreCalc II, which is a prereq for Calculus in Washington; I initially planned to take the PreCalc II at University of Washington if I will apply there but we moved to Maryland instead)
I do not have SAT/ACT since I have more than 30 credits (I have 80 cc credits) and I graduated from high school in different country.
I am an Out-of-State transfer applicant. I just moved in to Maryland last first week of July.
EC: I do not have any extracurricular activities and/or job experiences because of personal reasons(not medical), making me just stay at home after school. But now I am motivated to do things related to medical field.
Awards: Outstanding Performance in Biology (I’m not sure how and why the science department selected me to receive that award among my other classmates)
I plan to complete my application for Spring 2018 on August 1 (last day for priority consideration) and I worry that I have a little chance of getting accepted since they prioritize Maryland residents coming from Maryland community college
What are my chances for Umbc if I have a
