What are my chances at University of Richmond?

Hi there! I’m graduating high school as a part of the class of 2016, and University of Richmond is definitely one of my top choices so far. Could someone evaluate my stats and consider what my chances of acceptance would be?

-GPA (on a 5.0 scale): 3.83 UW/4.27 W
-SAT: 1980 (680 Writing, 670 Reading, 630 Math), but I took the June test and I’m feel confident that I broke 2000
-ECs: vice president of International Thespian Society, event coordinator of Spanish Honor Society, yearbook editor, student ambassadors, peer leaders, social justice club, student government association
-work experience: culinary assistant at a cooking studio, camp counselor at YMCA
-essays aren’t completed yet
-recommendation from a family friend alumni who donates to the school
-I just attended my first UR alumni interview

My senior schedule is as followed:
-AP Bio
-AP Psych
-AP Spanish
-SUPA English (Syracuse University’s english class)
-Calculus
-Creative Writing

Thank you!

Congrats! Same here! I am also a member of the Class of 2016 and Richmond is my #1 choice. I think that everything is fine, but I would try to raise that SAT store to at least a 2100. Everything else looks great! How did your interview go? I think you have great statistics. If the time comes closer and you decide that Richmond IS the place for you, then definitely apply ED. They have a historically higher acceptance rate between the ED I and II periods.

Comparing your stats to those reported by UR in the most recent Common Data Set, your current SAT is not a deal-breaker, but it is only slightly above the twenty-fifth percentile. UR admission has become increasingly competitive, so your admission would be more likely if you can increase your score.

Does your school rank students? 59% of UR first-year students (Fall 2014) were in the top ten percent of their HS class. Your EC’s look good and your course load rigorous (bet your essays will be strong). @southernbelle16 is correct that applying ED might give you a better chance, assuming it’s your first choice and you are able to meet those deadlines.
