What Are My Chances at UPenn Wharton

I am a junior in a Calfornia high school. I am planning to apply to UPenn early decision. Both my parents attended UPenn for 4 years. My dad went to Wharton and my mom to Annenberg. I plan to apply for Wharton.

My estimated SAT will be in the 1480-1520 range. My unweighted GPA will be around 3.93 and weighted 4.28.

I have been involved in multiple competitive leadership programs at my school, played soccer outside and in school until Sophomore year, and played Lacrosse as a Sophomore.

I work as an intern at my dad’s company, have worked in a cafe part-time, as well as participated in many sports, arts, and music related activities throughout my life. I did musical theater and sang until I was a freshman, and have played and continue to play guitar today.

The strongest thing I hope to push for is that I have shown massive dedication towards school that resulted in major improvement. Freshmen year I was in all easy classes, but wanted to challenge myself so every year since then I have done courses during the summer in order to get into the more challenging classes. My grades have also massively improved as my classes became harder, which seems pretty counterintuitive. I have been involved in many clubs and activities on campus, and have established very strong connections with my teachers and the school faculty.

What do you think my chances are?

You’re a junior and haven’t taken the SAT yet? You’ll have to wait until the August or October administration. That means you’ll have one, maybe two chances. Have you taken any subject tests ? They are optional for Penn, but better if you take them.

I know that legacy helps the most at Penn during the ED round. If you apply in the RD round, the legacy won’t help much.

What is your class rank? If in the top 5-10% then you have a decent shot. Should try to aim to get the SATs above 1520 if possible.
