I thought being a white girl going into computer science might give me an edge, but then again I'm out of state. And with all the economic issues in Cali right now, theyre accepting more out of staters? Does this up my chances?

Thanks for taking the time to help me out, really.

Definitely possible at Berkeley and LA… keep faith! I’d say try the SAT again, see if you can do better. BTW, next test is in october, not september! :)

UCs are accepting more out-of-state now, but it helps to have competitive scores. If you got in the 750+ range or around there for SAT IIs, and got SATs to 2200+, I think you would have a solid shot.

You are an intriguing candidate. SAT score at the present is on the cusp for Cal and UCLA but that Cross Country record-- wow! You might also want to take the ACT and see if you can get a higher (equivalent) score, and write a kick-ass essay for good measure…

I would still encourage you to apply to Berkeley, but I won’t expect so much from them, if I were you. Your HS GPA as well as your SATs are below the average for Berkeley and you’re applying for comsci, which is one of the most oversubscribed at Berkeley. Again, apply because you wouldn’t know, but don’t hope too much.
