what are my chances at yale?

Hi, Chances please? Thank you in advanced!

Male Latino in Eugene, Oregon
High School rarely sends people to Ivies an example is this, the best school someone went to last year was UCLA, and that was my brother, but we did win the goldman sachs award this year, so it is still a competitive school.
I wouldn't need financial aid, i don't know if that affects decision..

AP/IB Spanish
AP/IB French
AP/IB Calculus
IB Theory of Knowledge
AP/IB Literature
AP/IB Biology

Chances please. :-) Let me know if you need any more information. Thank you so much!

Your URM status will help you a lot--maybe your state too, since Oregon isn't exactly overrepresented. Your SAT and GPA are both fine, as is your course load. The only thing missing is a quirky or unusual activity to set you apart. Right now you have good chances, but you could increase them if you had an odd EC to add to your app. Good luck! I wouldn't be surprised if you got in. :)

thanks embeezy! :-) anyone else?
oh something weird? i play varsity petanque..

your a minority...it helps.

thanks! does anyone have like a percent chance of admission for me?

maybe 35-40%

Yale is need blind, so your need for FA will NOT affect the admissions decision.

just thinkin, what would happen if i applied ED to yale?

There is no Early decision at Yale, it is Single Choice Early Action. Which just means you appy to them only early, but you do not have to go if accepted (but who wouldn't go?). The admission rate is higher, but also I hear that the pool is a lot more competitive which accounts for the high admission rate.

but what are my chances....?

Nobody knows that, dude. None of us here work for the yale admissions committee (I think)... and even if we did, we couldn't really say. It depends on the quality of the application pool, the number of people applying, luck, etc. All we can do is give you general ideas (i.e. you have a better shot because you are an URM) and suggestions for improvement.

oh okay. thanks MagiTF. I think i'm just really nervous for the whole application period, with denial and everything. guh.

i like your chances

so i have good chances elephant?

Dude, you know you're good and all. Stop trying to get people to say that over and over again. Just apply, and see what happens.
