What are my chances: Cockrell School of Engineering at the UT Austin

I am currently ranked 52/1433 - top 3.6% (that should go up once first semester grades are added to transcripts).
SAT score: CR: 590 Math: 710 Writing: 770
Took SAT subject tests in Math 1 and Math 2, (haven't gotten the scores back yet but I feel like Math 1 will be a mid 700 and Math 2 will be a high 700 or 800)
Extracurriculars: National Honor Society, Student Council, Key Club, Math Club, Volunteering at the hospital over the summer.
I want to do Biomedical Engineering at Cockrell at UT. UT says that they only accept 100 freshmen per year for this major, so I was curious to see where I would line up. Also would filling out the honors engineering application help my chances of getting into Biomedical engineering at Cockrell?

I forgot to add my senior schedule:
Honors English IV
Calculus AB AP
Comm Apps
AP Gov/AP Macroeconomics
AP Physics B

You will get into engineering not sure about biomedical, can’t do much with biomedical undergrad only anyway, unless you want to go to medical school and there are much easier ways to get to medical school. Could do graduate biomedical without doing biomedical undergrad. So your ok either way.

well I was planning on doing biomedical undergrad and then getting my masters in it… I assumed doing biomed undergrad would help out in grad school… So do you think I would get into mechanical (my 2nd choice) and could change majors my 2nd year?

Not saying you won’t get into biomedical, just that if you don’t, you have every opportunity to focus on BME in grad school. Mechanical would be great. Good luck. Have you already applied?

okay I understand I can do BME in grad school. And yes I actually just applied today.

This student received a scholarship. The Plus with EE is you can actually get a good job if you want to postpone grad school a year or so. More options than Biomedical undergrad.

has shown an interest in genetics since his freshman year biology course, and plans to pursue any opportunities presented in research labs at UT. He has been accepted into the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas and plans to study Electrical Engineering and pursue a PhD in Biomedical Engineering.
