What are my chances? Columbia, Cornell

I applied RD to Columbia, Cornell, and Brandeis. I know columbia is a long-shot, but I'm trying anyway.

GPA - 3.83 weighted (not sure what it is unweighted, maybe 3.4)
My GPA sucks and I know it. I had a nice 4.1 until junior year and I just took too heavy a course load and couldn't handle it. I ended with a B- in AP History, and a C+ in AP Chem and Bs in the rest of my classes except for gym, which was great consolation.
AP test Scores - 3 in Microeconomics, 3 in Macroeconomics, 3 in English, 3 in History, and 1 in Chem. I know, I got a 1, but thats the class in which I had no idea what was going on.
Classes: 4 APs and 2 honors last year. 3 APs and 3 Honors this year.
SAT: 2180, Math - 750, CR - 660, Writing - 770
SAT 2: Literature - 630 Math I - 640, I don't know how I got that crappy on Math I, but Lit. was ridiculously difficult.

Extra Curriculurs - Hopefully will bring me up. I fence year round and I'm hoping that will up my chances.

Employment
I only ever worked once as a file clerk for a Law Firm. That was boring.

That's me in a nutshell. If anyone can help me, I'm sitting everyday at the mail box, chipping away at my nails with my teeth. Just give me a little feedback and tell me whether or not I have any chance of getting into these schools.

Don't expect Columbia or Cornell...at all. There are too many similar applicants to those colleges (good athletics and outside involvement) that also have much higher GPAs, SATs, and APs. Brandeis is a reach, but possible.

YEAH guess what big prospectiveMD, I got into Brandeis with 10K a year
and ur ugly ,=]

.....................................I'm trying to help you by not getting your hopes up buddy. However, judging from your seemingly inflated ego, that was a fruitless endeavor. Try to not to cry when you get rejected from Columbia.

^ Lol, I think he was joking.

Anyways, yes Columbia is a 99% no chance. Cornell mabye a 95% no chance.

im gonna go with cornell a 97% no chance, cause SAT II scores are ....

Comon, prospectiveMd, don't be a dick. If you can't recognize internet sarcasm when its splooging you in the face then theres something seriously wrong with you. I know I can't get into those schools, even if I'm mad sexy.

are you kidding? being madd sexy gets you into harvard. i don't know where you get your information...

Hopefully you played up your fencing EC in your essays etc because that's your real uniquness in the app process.

Comon Batman, you know if being mad sexy got you into college I'd be going to the IIT. And yeah, I wrote about all my fencing stuff in the essays and short answers.

wow, what's with this hostility? I don't think Prospective was being a dick... I mean, I had some people reply to my posts as "you're not smart enough" or "go play on a highway instead of applying to colleges" kinda stuff. That isn't that bad at all, he's being honest.

But in all seriousness, getting into Ivies is going to be VERY tough, as it is for everyone. Unless you are a nationally ranked fencer, I'd say your chances are not going to be very high. Sorry mate, but best of luck!

From a fencing perspective:

Columbia: They're overstocked in foil; bad news for you.

Cornell: Women's team only. I think you're a dude, so no help there.

Brandeis: Hopefully you have spoken with Bill Shipman before now; he might help you get accepted.

haha, nice comment sherpa. but why is there no male fencing thingy at Cornell?

Cornell got rid of men's fencing years ago. Probably Title IX.

If thats not dick I dunno what is.

i think your GPA really hurts you .. but you never know .. good luck

yeah it does, i just didn't try that hard, but I got into Brandeis so I'll be ok

yeah, it seems that cornell and columbia are a no but it's not that big of a deal, apparently those colleges didn't fit you as well as it did others. You shouldn't get so worked up about not getting into the ever elusive ivy league school, it's not for everyone. As for Brandeis, congrats and good luck.

woah, you got into brandeis? That's still pretty awesome. I'd go there any day. Yeah, so don't worry about Cornell and Columbia, they're insanely tough to get into...but you'll definitely get into some good school. And you did. woo :)

um i'm gonna say cornell and columbia are long shots. Cause schools look first at your academics, then at your EC's. Even if they are said to be weighted the same, they're not. If you do bad academically but well in EC, they usually think you can't handle both. If you do well in both, then that's when the acceptance letter's start rollin' in
