I am from a very prestigous private boarding school in the midwest.
Stats
I have a 3.6 Unweighted GPA.

I dont have any AP courses at this time, because enrollment in AP's is very limited at my school. There are only 10 possible AP classes to take, however senior year I will be taking 2 AP's.

I take the SAT's in May, but my projected score will be the equivalent of atleast a 1400. I say this because of my PSAT scores.

I do a lot of community service for my community service club, I sponser the blood drive, work in soup kitchens, run the can drive. I also have taught kids how to read.

I have played lacrosse for 10 years of my life.
Clubs: Amnesty, Habitat for Humanity, Debate Club, Student Mentor.
I also have a job.

I want to go a to a big school in a big city, so far I am looking into UT-Austin, Boston University, New York University. As of now, I want to go into either Psychology or Advertising.

It looks like you have a good chance at all of those schools.

You better check with your college counselor about how your school tends to fare with those schools. UT-Austin if very much formula, is my understanding, and do not care which highschool you come from. My son's prep school counselor told me that NYU does not give leeway on gpas from prep school that it even knows right in its own area. I do not know about BU. Most prep schools keep records on the school where their kids successfully apply with lots of stats available. They can also tell you schools that look kindly on apps from your school. All of this can be very helpful in getting list together.

I think you will get into BU if you apply to COM. I had pretty much the same GPA as you and I was waitlisted at CAS even though I got into schools that were much better than BU. I dunno about NYU or UT.

lol psychology or advertising, starkly contrasting, yet eerily similar.

I am a Texas Resident which is why I am considering UT Austin along with other state schools as my safties

For UT you count as a resident but the top 10% auto-admit does NOT apply. My S is in the same situation (boarder out of state- Texas resident). I think you will get into UT.

The majority of people from my school apply and are accepted to Ivies, They also tend to Apply to many LAC's, and places like Emory, Duke, Georgetown, Northwestern, U of Chicago, etc. Almost everyone is accepted to Michigan.

Regarding UT-Austin- they place ALOT of emphasis on Class Rank, and I am coming out of an unranking school. Also being out of state tends to screw you over.

It is one of my first choces because its in state tuition. I am the 3rdchild, and my sisters and brothers are currently in private universities so the parents are paying ALOT of money.

I am also an African American Female, if that helps out.

Lol asher.. Wut my dream job would be, is opening up my own restaurants, but psych and advertising come close 2nds.
