Soooo here are my stats:

Rank: ~30/540
Gpa (5 pt. Scale): ~4.7 UW, 5.36 W
ACT: 36
Extracurriculars:
4 yrs of hospital volunteering
Drum major
Band president
Won a couple writing contests

I know this is just bare bones, but I don't want to be TOO identifiable. Here's the list of colleges I'm currently thinking of applying to (btw-my tentative major is probs some type of engineering, but I am in no way sure of this):

Rice
Vanderbilt
Case western
Northwestern
U chicago
Yale
Princeton
WUSTL
Johns Hopkins

Also, what are my chances of financial aid at these places (not counting need-based)? I feel like I have no idea if I have enough matches/safeties/whatever...everything feels like a reach! Even at this point I'm just super nervous and stressed...any help is appreciated!!!

Academically you sound like a good canidate. WORK ON YOUR ESSAY!!! I think you would qualify for a merit scholarship at most of the colleges. Another school to consider is UIUC and Purdue. GOOD LUCK!

Not to be obnoxious but BUMP!

Are you taking any SAT IIs or APs? If you do well in the math/science-based tests, your chances will improve. I can’t say anything 100% without knowing if you took these or not.

Just a guess, based on the scant info:
Rice - Acceptance
Vanderbilt - Probable acceptance
Case western - Probable acceptance
Northwestern - Probable acceptance
U chicago - Probable acceptance
Yale - Probable rejection
Princeton - Rejection
WUSTL - Acceptance
Johns Hopkins - Acceptance

I agree with the above poster that you should look at Purdue and UIUC. Also check out:

Carnegie Mellon
UPenn
Harvey Mudd
USC
UC Berkeley
Georgia Tech
UVA

As a junior I took USAP, english lang AP, and calc BC. No scores at the moment. Next year: english lit ap, spanish ap, physics ap, multi vari calc through a community college, computer science ap.

I will not be taking sat 2’s. I am so done with standardized testing ;)
