What are my chances - Duke?

What are my chances of getting into Duke University? It's my dream school! Honest opinions please. I'm currently a junior at a public highschool - it's one of the top schools in the area and also the state (I don't know if that makes a difference or not..). I have/am currently in the process of completing 6 AP courses (AP American Government, World History, Environmental Science, Calculus AB, and English Language and Composition). I plan to take 3-4 AP courses as well next year when I'm a senior. I have a 3.8 GPA UW and I don't know what my weighted GPA is. Last time I checked my rank was in the top 10% but since then I think it has dropped to maybe top 12-15%. But that is because I took an extra online math course second semester of my sophomore year that was condensed into 3 months..AND it didn't give me any honor points...so that really brought down my avg/rank (I got a 90 for the "first" semester and a 91 on the "second" semester). Those grades calculated into my avg of a 97+ and a rank of 28/398 to an avg of 96.6 to an unknown rank. SO SAD
As for extracurriculars, I've held leadership positions in Math Team all 3 years (Secretary and Vice President of JV and Secretary of Varsity), I'm volunteer coordinator for the Beta Club, and I'm the founder and President of my own club which raises money to help fund projects in developing countries. I am in the Key Club, Science Olympiad, Spanish Club, FBLA, and I tutor. In addition I work at my church and I self-teach kids how to swim in the summer.
On the SAT I scored a 2150 and on SAT II's I took World History - 610 and Chinese - 720 (I'm Chinese). I really messed up on the world History one...but I got a 4 on the AP World History exam..so hopefully that will make up for it? I'm planning on taking the Math II subject test and possibly the spanish, literature, or writing one too.
What are my chances for Duke University?? WHat should I improve..I only have one more semester of junior year and my first semester senior year left..

You’ll need to get back into the top 10% and you have plenty of time to raise scores.

What if I can’t get back into the top 10%…I feel that it’s highly unlikely. :(

^^^

Then you’ll need to make sure you have good backups. It really helps to be within the top 10%.

BTW…an AP score doesn’t make up for a SAT II. And, a 4 in APWorld is probably not impressive to a school like Duke. You really need to do more SAT IIs.

Taking Chinese SAT II - while being Chinese - is not likely going to impress Duke - especially since many get 800s on that test.

A 720 on the Chinese SAT II is in the 14 percentile…that’s not a typo…14 percentile.

A 610 on World SAT II is in the 57 percentile.

You need more SAT IIs.

Well Duke is definitely my reach school now…my semester grades cane out and I ended up with 3 B’s (85,88,89)…I really hate 89s…

Now I’m gonna try aiming for Northwestern (also my top choice). What do you think my chances are of getting admitted there? Is it better than the chance I have at shooting for Duke?

Thanks! :)

Northwestern is near as hard to get in to as Duke

What do you find attractive about Duke? Location, ambiance, a particular program or major? Of course you should apply there, but look also for schools that are similar in whatever criteria matter to you, but that are easier to get into.
