What are my chances? ED II

I applied ED II to Tufts. It’s truly my dream school. What do you think my chances are of getting in? College is a crapshoot so I really have no clue.

SATs: 2060 (one sitting)
SAT II: USH 700.
GPA: 3.89/4.3 (top 10%)
AP’s: APUSH (5), AP Lang (5), World History (4), Biology (3). I’ve taken every AP at my school except for calculus.
Senior courseload: mandarin IV, probs and stats, AP lit, AP gov, physics.
Awards: National Hispanic Recognition Award, POSSE finalist, CSF scholar, honor roll, AP scholar with honors.

I have great extracurriculars, I’ve interned at the Jewish Journal, for Congressman Tony Cardenas, Planned Parenthood, have a job at the Hollywood Bowl, started two clubs at my school, tutored low-income students, am a stage manager at my school etc etc.

I am sort-of a legacy at Tufts (uncle and cousin went there) and I am half Latino/Jewish.

I think my common app essay is fun and funny and I am really happy with my supplements. I think my recommendations are good, my counselor loves me as do the teachers I asked.

I think I am a strong applicant but my SAT score is a little low. I’ve already gotten into Tulane (half tuition scholarship) and Fordham with a full scholarship. I’m also applying to Carnegie Mellon, vassar, middlebury, northwestern, and Vanderbilt.

you need two subject tests with SAT. How are you planning on handling that?

are you applying ED2

also what was the break of your SAT score

SandDad: yes, I am applying EDII.

I also sent in my Math 1. I got a 660.

My SAT break down is a 710 W, 690 R, 660 M (as you can see, math is not my strong suit). I also sent in my new sat’s which was a 1390 – 730 CRW 660 M.

My old score is equivalent to a 1440 on the new SAT.

I got in with a 1330, your stats are definitely good enough.
Acceptance will come down to your essays and recs. Good luck!

Yur SAT score is in range. I worry about your SAT 2 subject scores.

What is your major? can you do SAT 2 in AP lang?

Is it too late to take another subject test if I get my decision in February?

“Early Decision II: Students may take the December ACT / December SAT or Subject Tests”
Regular Decision: Students may take the February ACT / January SAT or Subject Tests

…so i would prep for the Jan SAT subject test and go standby in case i was deferred

But don’t schools want subject scores to be from all fields of study? If I already have a history one, should I do a math/science?

It’s a tough call.
Your test scores are good, but not impressive by Tufts standards. You are not a legacy, but being half Latino is a hook.
Your GPA is strong, but i don’t see any calc.

Applying ED might push you past the finish line, because of the demonstrated interest/commitment.
Good luck!

I’d put you at 50/50. I know kids who had significantly stronger test scores, comparable grades (with more rigor) and ECs who were (true) legacies who were not admitted (rejected or waitlisted.) Yet they had classmates who were their equals on paper who were. Being half Latino and a posse finalist might differentiate you. Tufts is selective enough that they turn down kids who are essentially the same as ones they take simply because they can’t take them all. Your good essay may help. I hope your Jumbo dreams come true!

Being a Posse finalist is hugely beneficial at Vassar and Wesleyan, which have places in their freshman classes reserved for students with that status. Suggest you take a close look at those schools.

I applied to them both!
