I plan to major in bioengineering, can you evaluate my chances?

School List:

Duke
Carnegie Mellon
Rice
Johns Hopkins
University of Pennsylvania
California Institute of Technology

You put up your Freshman and Junior Year GPAs--what about Sophomore Year?

I did not put up my Sophomore Year because I skipped my Sophomore year and I am unsure whether my high school will pull up grades from my 8th grade year.

I apologize, but I forgot to ask about rank (which is what the Ivies use instead of GPA). I need this to give you chances for the Univ of Pennsylvania . If you could post this, in the meantime, I'll start working on the others.

Duke--average ACT range is 29 to 34 with a UW GPA of around 3.87 and lots and lots of ECs and AP/IB courses--so match to slight reach
Carnegie Mellon--ACT 30 to 32 with UW GPA of 3.6--so safe match
Rice--ACT range is 30 to 34 with a UW GPA of around 3.85--so match
Johns Hopkins--ACT range 27 to 32--and GPA around 3.8, but a big focus on Math and science--so match
California Institute of Technology--your science scores hurt you here--so probably slight reach to reach

Univ of Pennsylvania--I'll presume you are around the top 2% of your class of 300, or a rank of 6/300. Based upon this your AI score is 218 and your CRS is 6 out of 9. This means that your grades and test scores will be better than 56% to 67% of those who apply here, and worse than to 33% to 44% of candidates. (average UW GPA at UPenn is 3.86 or so and ACT test scores are 29 to 34). Since only 21% were accepted last year but your courseload is probably tougher than most of those applying but you are applying for a tough major, your chances are right around 45% to 50% here--so we'll call it a slight reach.

Good luck with all these schools--you have a very tough, but highly-distinguished list.

Thanks for the prompt reply, Calcruzer. I am unsure of my exact rank, but your estimate is pretty close.

Any other opinions?

May I have some feedback from other people?

Let me say I applaud/thank calcruzer (and, also flopsy and some others) who take the time and trouble to analyze the stats of kids eager to know their chances. Looking at the above analysis by calcruzer, I can only say, 'wow!' You are wonderful, at least gives ideas to seniors like myself how to think about the chances at various schools.
