What are my chances for Andover, Exeter, Lawrenceville and Hotchkiss?

Hi, I am a freshman at an international school in Japan and am applying for 10th grade. I am actually a reapplicant for Andover and Exeter but never have applied to Lawrenceville or Hotchkiss. Also, I need FA (this is going to dramatically pull down my chances)

My SSAT scores:
Reading: 91 percentile, 728
Quantative: 99 percentile, 800
Verbal: 91 percentile, 764
Overall: 95 percentile, 2292

Grades:
Strings Orchestra: A
Science (Biology): A+
PE: A+
Algebra 2 w/ trig: A+
English: A
Social studies (Ancient world history): A+
Adv. Japanese: A+

My school doesn’t really have any honor classes but it does have like 10 Japanese levels and advanced is like level 10?
My past grades were 4.0 unweighted GPA or close to that so I don’t think that’s a problem.

ECs:
Piano for 9 years, tennis for 5 years, cross country for 4 years (JV), track&field for 3 years, robotics team for 5 years- currently on VEX team second in Japan. Girl Scouts for 7 years, and mandarin for 9 years (they had it in my old school but since in my current school they do not, I have to take it outside of school.)
School clubs: Community service club, gender equality club and pre-medical society. (I know these aren’t very significant)

Achievements:
Girl Scouts Silver Award- After working with these organizations in Japan called “children’s cafeterias,” which support kids who are unable to eat meals with their parents, I developed an app that teaches kids about nutrition.
Qualified for a regional honor orchestra
Qualified for some conferences in Japan to discuss current issues with politicians.

Recs:
My teachers have completed the recommendations and all I can do is hope they are good.

For the personal rec, I asked my strings teacher who has taught me for 3 years and hopefully has seen my effort and improvement? (I started playing the viola in 6th grade but have worked to get to the level of peers who have been playing for nearly a decade)

Interviews:
Andover: On campus. The interview went pretty well? It didn’t last that long (around 30 min) but considering the fact that the person interviewed by him before me had an interview lasting 10 min I guess it can’t be that bad. Was able to talk a lot about science and he really explained the experiences at Andover and school schedule etc.
Exeter: Alumni interview. The interviewer was really nice but then again, probably was looser because he isn’t an AO and was at a cafe. Lasted nearly an hour but that includes the time that he gave me a brain teaser for fun which I failed to solve.
Hotchkiss: On campus. Idk if the interview went well. It was short (20-25 min) and the interviewer seemed rushed. Quite some awkward moments. The interviewer seemed more interested in Japan than me.
Lawrenceville: On campus. I think it went well. We talked about app developing for quite a while and really bonded over some topics. The interviewer also explained a lot about experiences at L’ville. Lasted about 40 min.

Character skills snapshot:
Should I send them in? I got demonstrating for 3 skills and developing for the other 4. I feel like it doesn’t really reflect my personality.

Essays:
I’m probably going to send them in within the next week. Struggling to write just one Hotchkiss essay about change. Trying to pull off something creative but not working exactly as planned…
I’m really into biology so I talked about that for many of my essays and also about cultural identity as well as app development.

Thank you for reading this whole page. What are my chances realistically? I do know my chances are very slim after results from last year but want to take another shot, and want to know my updated chances.

Thank you again.

You already know that needing FA is going to affect your chances, so a lot of us are wondering why you are only applying to those schools…

Have you considered Berkshire, which adds lots of sophomores? George? Girls schools like Emma Willard?

If you don’t get admitted this year, consider United World Colleges. It is a two year program and most kids go for junior and senior year or for senior year and one post grad year.

@CaliMex many schools will probably consider me an international student considering the fact that I live overseas and my parents are non-US citizens. A lot of schools like Emma Willard wrote that giving FA to international students is very unlikely and also I have other options besides BS. I might check out UWCs though thank you!

You are an very strong candidate for admission to all of your targeted schools based on your shared profile in this thread.

Have you considered St. Paul’s School in New Hampshire ? It is 100% boarding and, I believe, 50%/50% male/female. Academically equal to all of your listed schools. I suggest SPS because you are seeking significant financial aid and it is the third wealthiest prep school in terms of endowment behind only the much larger schools Exeter & Andover.

Just a point of clarification: no school cares what your parents’ citizenship is. You are a US citizen living abroad. That said, needing FA will hurt your chances at most schools.

@Publisher When we applied last year, the two most generous FA offers came from schools in the middle of the pack in terms of endowment …

@CaliMex: Thanks for the reminder !

SPS awards full financial aid to admitted students from families earning $125,000 or less. And, I think, has a sliding scale for higher amounts of income.

I believe, but do not know for certain, that these automatic awards are for both US & International applicants. (I could be wrong so I encourage anyone seeking financial aid to research each school’s website for accurate up to date information.)
