I’m also applying ED1 to Bates. I would say that you aren’t a sure thing, but you have a good chance. (I would say the same for me.) The good thing about Bates is that they seem to be a school that will focus on your strengths more than your weaknesses. The fact that they don’t require SATs (and one of the first schools not to do so) is an example of that. From what I understand… Bates looks at extracurriculars a lot, and yours are very good. You should also do an interview, if you haven’t done so already. Bates is really into interviews, from what I’ve heard. Especially if you present yourself well in person, it can be really helpful. Honestly, your GPA is probably a little below their average, but you have taken pretty challenging classes. Also, attending the multi-cultural prologue was a good thing - Bates is really into demonstrated interest too. The summer art program at Parsons is also a very cool thing, I think Bates will like that. AND, try and write a reeeallyyy good essay. Bates places a lot of emphasis on writing skills in their curriculum, and so my guidance counselor said that a really good essay would reflect very well on you. So, basically, like I said… you’re not a sure thing, but you have a good chance. Same with me, I’d say. (But I posted a thread about this too, so I’m not sure about this.)

Also, if you are very talented at art, you might want to send in an art supplement. Or are you already doing that? From what I heard at their information session, Bates welcomes supplements.

yes i am sending in my art portfolio to bates and also, I am having an interview when I go up for the multicultural prologue. I forgot to mention that i had to apply to get into the multicultural prologue so I think that’s a positive sign that they accepted me. i know my gpa is below the average but hopefully it will go up when they weight it…good luck to you too!
