Hi everyone. I am finishing up my junior year now and I am very excited about Bowdoin after visiting it. I will probably go ED. Do you think I could get in?

3.55 UW GPA at a very competitive high school (avg SAT at my school is close to 1350)
SAT I’s: 740 Verbal, 710 Math, 720 Writing
SAT II’s: 700 Math IC, 660 Physics
APs: English Composition 5, Physics 4, Biology 5, Chemistry 4, English Literature 5
ECs: Preparatory Program at a music school on weekends 8-12 grade, 3 years varsity Lacrosse, 2 years varsity ski team, National Merit Scholar Honorable Mention for PSAT, Area- All State on my instrument from 10-12 grade, 4 years of Band.
Good Essay and Solid Recommendations (I assume).
However, I finished on a slightly downward trend and junior year was all Bs to B+s.
Thanks for your help.

I'd say work really hard on your first semester senior year. You'll be able to impress the admissions people by correcting that trend. And then it sounds good!

I'd second that. Try to show an upward trend in your grades and write a great essay, and it'll impress them.

Your GPA, AP scores, and SATI are better than mine were (I'm an incoming freshman at Bowdoin), but I had better SATIIs and ECs, so I'd say it's a toss-up, but you're definitely in the ballpark! Good luck! Let me know if you want me to read your essay- I'd be happy to. :-)

With that kind of courseload, you can probably get away with a few B's. Definitely work really hard at the beginning of your senior year, make sure your essays are good, and I'm sure you'd be in the running for ED. It's always a gamble though, so good luck!

wow thanks a lot for all your responses. I talked to the two guys from my school who are going to Bowdoin this year and they invited me up to visit some time next fall. I think I may apply to Bowdoin ED it just seems so great. Thanks again.

laxster87,
if your school sends kids to Bowdoin on a regular basis, your junior year grades may not be a problem. Work hard on your senior year grades as other have suggested, though - if you are deferred ED, these grades will come into play.
