What Are My Chances for Choate Rosemary Hall

I honestly have no idea who to ask, so, I came here as it seems like a reliable source. In all candor, I am really anxious and want to know what my future with Choate is because it is my first choice. Anyways, to save your time, I will get to it…

Here are my stats:

  1. I am a freshman in high school, but, if necessary, I would be willing to repeat ninth grade.
  2. I had As and A+ in eighth grade of middle school.
  3. I sort of started to slack in ninth grade because I had personal issues which were really affecting me, but I did not drop below a B in academics. ** Also, I had a rough transition into high school. **
  4. I have not taken my SSATs yet, but I am working as hard as I possibly can.
  5. My interview went exceptionally well and my interviewer had an extraordinary expression of me (I think...).
  6. I am a good writier, and can probably make my application/essays outstanding. I have good writing pieces that I can send to Choate that have been graded as A+s by my teachers. (Side Note: Don't judge my writing here. It is being rushed).
  7. I am in accelerated classes. Not honors, unfortunately, but I told my interviewer that I should have been placed in the honors classes, but they didn't put me in; whereas, my friend who didn't have nearly as good results was placed after talking to the supervisor in my public school.

Me As A Person:

  1. I have fought depression many times in my life.
  2. I take part in the following activities: Model United Nations, INK! (A writing club), FCCLA (Volunteering), KeyClub (Volunteering), I used to play tennis, and will probably begin playing again, Latchkey (taking care of kids), I volunteer at my place of worship, I am taking part in Honors Pre-Medical Program at a well-known university, I will be participating in Astronomy Club, and eventually, I will be working in a hospital. There may be other things, but I forgot to include them.

More About Me:
Like many students, I have had a difficult life behind me, but I try to stay positive and embrace everything I have. I like to be social, read, write, work with difficult math problems, and learn about the past. I love to learn and do what is best for me. I like change, and I am applying to Choate to step out of my comfort zone.

Is there anything more you like to know? What are my chances, if any?

Please, please do not put all your eggs (i.e. hopes) into one basket and apply to just one school, especially if you are hoping to receive financial aid. That pool is especially competitive and you need something to push your application over the top – underrepresented student (minority, far flung US state, impact athlete, etc). You may be enamored with Choate but there are many, many schools with the same profile. It had been suggested to us during the process that six schools area good number with a couple being reaches. Choate would definitely be in that category simply based on the percentage of applicants for which they offer admission.

I am not. I am applying to other schools, but this is the school I am most serious about.
