<p>FYI, my planned major is English Literature with a minor in African American studies.
I'm a high school senior who's taking a gap year. </p>

<p>Final GPA: 3.76/4.2 (my freshman and sophomore grades were bad)
ACT: 33</p>

<p>ECs:
National Geographic Student Expeditions (Creative Writing; kept an interesting journal; have recs)
National Essay Contests (1st place in a few)
Junior Educator at a now well known aquarium (the one in Dolphin Tale)
Astronomy club (President)
Writer's club (President)
Quill and Scroll (President)
Spanish National Honor Society
National Honor Society
Volunteer at the ASPCA, United Way (reading tutor)
Job at Barnes and Noble </p>

<p>Lots of nature stuff. I have a lot of journals that I keep of my observations of nature. I love animals, languages & cultures, nature, and writing. </p>

<p>I'll also have really great recommendations from my English teacher and AP Spanish teacher. </p>

<p>Also, no one from my school will applied to Cornell or any of the Ivies for that matter. They all stay in-state. </p>

<li>If I don't get into Cornell ED, then I would like to go to Stony Brook, CUNY Hunter, or the University of Connecticut. Are any of these schools possible with fantastic essays?</li>

<p>Since u applied ED I would say ur chances are about 40%</p>

<p>and all other colleges should be ur safeties.</p>
