Plan on writing essay about overcoming moving schools countless times during homelessness

And I plan on being a biomedical engineer major and I might even start a iPhone App designing business or something and if it becomes successful I might put it on my college app

HERE'S THE LIST OF OTHER SCHOOLS I WILL APPLY TO SO FEEL FREE TO CHANCE ME ON THESE TOO:

Dang if you were homeless and still managed to get all of those scores you’ve got a pretty good shot. Don’t know if I would send some of those lowish SAT 2 scores like US history though

Yeah I don’t think I’ll sen the US History SAT II if I don’t have to. And hahaa I’m not really sure what hooks are but I read somewhere that the Universities will take into consideration any special struggles you overcame. At least that’s what I will write my essay about. And this is a reach school for me I think so I’ll apply Early Decision so I have better chances ut thanks for the answers keep them coming!

I think you have a really solid chance of getting into Cornell. Make sure your essay doesn’t sound like a sob story and make sure your guidance counselor mentions all the obstacles you’ve overcome.

I think that given your personal background and the fact that you have done work to help people in a similar situation, as well as your clear success academically, you should have an excellent chance. Are you applying ED (does Cornell offer that?)?

That acceptance rate is for the whole school (i.e College of engineering probably has a lower acceptance rate than Hotel administration), so don’t base your chances much on acceptance rates they can be very misleading ;)

But what IS almost a hook is that you are a female applying to the college of engineering (i assume that since you want to do biomedical engineering) so I think you will most likely get accepted (but not definitely).

Cornell is great i also applied to the college of engineering early decision last year. Really an excellent school and beautiful campus. Financial aid is o.k but it looks like you will most likely get a full ride package if you get accepted.

Yeah, I would say that you’re a solid candidate. Does anyone know if Early Decision acceptance rates higher because the candidates are better qualified, or because colleges just like to accept people that show that much interest?

You seem pretty solid. Good test scores (except for some of your SAT II scores), good EC’s, and you’re a minority (hey, it helps :p). Your reach/match/safety list seems pretty accurate. One thing I will add, however, is that if you don’t live in CA, UC schools are harder to get into.

If you write a good essay, I feel like you have a good shot at getting into Cornell.

African-American, female, COE, applying ED?? I’d be very surprised if you weren’t admitted! Your SAT II score in US History isn’t going to hurt you in the least for COE. As someone else mentioned, the admit rate for females COE is the highest of any male / female subgroup over the 7 colleges at Cornell.

I think you have a pretty solid chance…great grades, test scores, and EC’s, and your background information certainly shows that you can overcome adversity well.
Good luck! (:

Teenyton,
What you have posted on your background and the scores you shared that you achieved says a lot about you and how hard you have worked amidst adversity.

You have posted on a few threads, people have given you responses here and via pm, myself included.

Just wondering why your posts show so many inconsistencies.

No Haahaa these scores are real even my SATs were real the only thing that was unrealistic was my predicted gpa a year ago. These are my real scores and I’m proud of them :)
