What are my chances for csulb? :(

gpa 3.5
sat 1470
out of state
major- film

chances?

If that is a 2-section SAT score, that will pique some interest. If that is 3-part, it is beyond a reach. My son had similar stats applying to CSULB film last year and was quickly rejected. And we are in-state.

its three part
whats his gpa and sat
i have firends in state and they said its easy to get in as long as its above a 3.0…

His GPA was 3.2 and SAT 1710.

CSULB average GPA is around 3.5 now and going up. Also, film major is impacted so standards for admittane are higher.

Sorry to say, but Long Beach is only accepting 7.7% next year due to funding cuts.

"While these numbers point to excellence in quality and recognition of our campus’ reputation,” he added, “what’s unfortunate for most of these applicants is that due to continuing reductions to CSULB’s budget, only 5,500 will actually enroll as students in the fall.”

Applied 71,000. Admitted 5,500.

[CSULB News and Events](http://cf.papubs.csulb.edu/news-events/story.cfm?hackid=1275)

The Cal States all draw from their local draw area first for freshman admits. It’s much easier to get admitted if you’re applying from the local draw area because you’re pretty much accepted if you’re Cal State eligible, or at least you used to be before the budget crisis. So if your friends were from the local area then yes, itwas easy to get in and those stats would have done it if they were applying for non-impacted majors. But for outside the local draw area, and for impacted majors, higher standards apply. Sometimes much higher standards depending upon the Cal State. CSULB is desirable and more and more selective. And with the budget crisis this year, who knows what the standards are going to be.

Jenk, I’m in basically the same boat as you! My GPA is around 3.3, but rising and I’m interested in film at CSULB as an out of stater. This doesn’t look good… I’d like the see the repercussions of this in another 20 years. People are going to have to be a lot more creative about getting jobs, and when I say people, i mean me. I know there is no way have a chance of being accepted with a 7% acceptance rate.

why do you say that
do you mean a job in film
or being accepted into the school
i heard if you have a over a 3.0 you’re okay…

For out of state, the average GPA is closer to 3.5.

soooo good chance?

You just have to wait and see.

Where are you from? And if you don’t mind me asking, why CSULB?

Arkansas
film
