What are my chances for CSUN

I heard California States don’t look at the classes you took and are mainly GPA orientated when looking at your application.
I have a 2.6 CSU GPA and took mostly APS and honors.
My SAT is 1090 and I im planning to retake November.
I plan to Major History. With a Minor in Political Science.
If you need more information just ask. Thanks!

  1. You have to meet the minimum a-g course requirements so the Cal States do look at the classes you take to make sure you fulfill these requirements.
  2. Are you in the local service area? http://www.calstate.edu/sas/onestopkiosk/documents/CSULocalAdmission-ServiceAreas.pdf
  3. CSUN has been heavily impacted for the last 2 years and although your major is not impacted, they have taken very applicants outside their service area.

CSU’s use an eligibility index to rank applicants by major.
(CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math + CR). Your EI is 3170. It meets the minimum to apply as a local but may not be competitive enough to get into the school if you are non-local.

Your SAT score is above the 50th percentile but your GPA is low (average last year was 3.18).

From the CSUN Website:

Local applicants:
Minimum SAT EI: 2900

Non-local Applicants:
Minimum SAT EI: 3900. Invited for Waitlist: 3700-3899

What other schools do you plan to apply? Definitely apply but consider adding some non-impacted schools to your list like CSU Channel Islands, Bakersfield. Dominguez Hills, Stanislaus, East Bay and Humboldt.

Good luck.
