What are my chances for ED to Duke or Cornell

<p>I'm slightly above an avergae student in terms of grades and ACTS but I've always been the type to set my goals super high, so...what are my chance at getting Duke or Cornell with early decision?</p>

<p>GPA: 3.79 weighted 3.5 unweighted (I can pull it up to a 3.8 easy)</p>

<p>ACT: 25 (oh noses! i'm working on it)</p>

<p>AP + Exam Score:
Human Geography-4
US History-4
English Language Comp.-5
Enviromental Science- n/a (haven't taken the exam yet)
Literature-n/a
European History- n/a
(I've taken more honors than I can remember, probabley around 5)</p>

National Spanish Honor Society + 1 years
Journalism class ( Sports Editor) +2 years
Water Skiing/Wakeboarding Club + 1 year
Girl's Weightlifting +1 year

MVP (Tennis)
SAC All Conference Tennis ( District Tournament Award)
SAC All Conference patch( for having 2 sports and and a high gpa)
HOSA conference medal 2nd in the Nutrion Comeption
HOSA conference medal 2nd in the Kiesler Permidente </p>

<p>Notes:
I can write really good essays
I can also get a letter of reccomendation from Duke alumni
I already have a letter of reccomendation from my AP teacher who has a PHD</p>

<p>Financial Aid:
My family makes 60k. What school would have the best package? I looked through myself but both school wont tell me straight out. Do you have any good resources that can help me with this?</p>

<p>Be honest but not rude. I know my goals are high but I'd rather try and fail than not try at all.</p>

<p>GPA and ACT are far, far below the requirements for either Cornell or Duke. They are both out of reach, even if you were to ED.</p>

<p>^I’d have to agree with billabongboy. Try taking the SAT to see if you can’t raise those scores and work on getting your GPA increased. Not sure you can realistically bring up your GPA three tenths in just one semester. Make sure you have some “B” schools on your list as well that you’d be happy attending. Nice athletic EC’s!</p>

<p>This is why you shouldn’t do ED when you don’t have a dream school; choose from offered packages at RD time. I agree that Duke or Cornell are out of reach.</p>
