I really need to know if I have a chance at getting into these schools. I'm applying for 10th grade.

Grades: I got to one of the most prestigious prep schools in the country. I'm taking 7 AP classes this year and doing 2 AP courses online. All A and A+ since 5th grade but I got an A- in AP calc this year. Will this hurt me? Should I beg the teacher for extra credit?

SSAT: Math: 99% Reading: 99% Vocab: 99%

Recs: My teachers told me they were honored to write them and they're going to be sad to see me leave because I am undoubtably the smartest kid to ever go to my school.

Essays: They were all so good that my English teacher that read them entered them in a national competition.

EC's:
-Varsity starter in football, basketball, and baseball since 8th grade.
-Played piano for 12 years, receiving numerous honors including winning a national competition and playing at carnegie hall.
-Played the trumpet for 11 years, 1st chair in my high school band and jazz band since 6th grade. Performed a solo at carnegie hall after being recognized as the best trumpet player in the state. Will it hurt my chances that I've only played for 11 years? I hear these schools really want excellence and I don't know if 11 years is long enough.
-Chorus: Top 10 score in all county and all state tryouts.
-Community Service: 250 hours at a local veterans hospital. 150 hours helping children in poverty. Raised over $27,000 for a major cancer organization.
-Wrote a best selling book but I'm not sure how the schools will view this because it had one or two controversial reviews.
-Tied for the best Math Olympiad score in the world out of everyone that took it (hope the kid I tied with doesn't take my spot at these schools!)
-Fluent in English, Spanish, Chinese, French, and Russian. Won national Spanish and Chinese competitions.

Interview: All my interviewers said I belong at their school and they are honored to be in my presence. They all said they wished I applied last year so I could already be at their school. But I sneeze toward the end of the interview, will this mean I won't get in???

Also I'm a legacy at each of these schools and don't need any financial aid.

i don’t know… your chances would be much improved if you had been playing an instrument since you were in the womb… 12 years just won’t cut it, sorry

OH MY GOSH, YOU SNEEZED? You had a .0000000000000000000001% chance of getting in now you have 0%!!! You’ve ruined all hope. And, oh yeah, those schools only except kids with A++ :)

Your A- in AP Calc is going to screw you backwards. No way you’re going to get in with TWO controversial book reviews on your bestseller. You only raised $27,000 for a major cancer organization? That’s not enough. You need at least $500,000, preferably $10,000,000. You can’t just let yourself tie with another dude in a math olympiad.
Why aren’t you fluent in Incan/ Aztec and Atlantic? The interviewers can’t just say they’re honored to be in your presence, they need to bow down and kiss your feet.
You “sneezed” at the climax of the interview? Man i just think that’ll take you either way.

LOL
^^^^scales I’m thinking the same… Is this real???
‘Best trumpet player in the state’? Are you sure?
Are you kidding??? Do you have even the slightest chance??? Um I never heard that sneezing towards the end of the interview would mean that you won’t get in. If this thread is 100% real and no part of it is exaggerated or fabricated, then… no comment.

I also feel honored to chance people with the top resumes I have ever seen. Well all I have to say is if you go to Andover I’ll hopefully see you next fall. Hopefully on my part but I’m pretty sure you’re getting in. WITH LEGACIES!!! CHANCE ME Im apply for my prep year

I do think the sneezing at the end of one of your interviews could be quite problematic. From my vast experience in these matters, your acceptance at the school in question will probably depend upon the language in which you sneezed. If French or Chinese, you should be fine.

haha I think I sneezed in French but I’m not sure I was nervous. Did I mention every member of my family has gone to a HADES school for the past 4 decades? Also 4 out of the 5 are named after one of my family members. :)
