What are my chances for getting into Barnard?

Hi, I’m a senior in high school who loves Barnard! I’ve got a good application but the 20% admit rate is a little scary. Please chance me!

GPA (unweighted): 4.0
ACT: 34
Demographics: White, upper middle class, midwestern city, large inner city public high school
EC’s:
Cross Country (4yrs Varsity)
Nordic Skiing (1yr jv, 3 yrs varsity)
Ultimate frisbee (1yr jv, 2 yrs varsity)
NHS VP
Band Council Librarian
1st Chair Flute
Private Flute, Piano and Voice lessons
Volunteer in Children’s Hospital (3hrs/wk, 3 yrs)
Spent a month in Guatemala taking Spanish lessons and living in homestays for each of the past two summers.

I’ve taken a ton of AP’s and other college level classes. I’m particularly good at science (I’m taking both AP Chemistry and AP Physics right now)

I toured Barnard this past spring break and had a good interview with an admissions rep this past week.

Let me know if there’s anything else you would like to know. Thanks so much in advance!

Have you looked at their Common Data Set? In 2014-2014, 61% of applicants with ACTs (this was the only data point I looked at) between 30-36 were accepted.

@AtWells, you are misreading the common data set. Item C9 does NOT mean that 61% of applicants with ACTs in the range of 30-36 were accepted.

It means that among students who were accepted and who matriculated at Barnard – and who submitted ACT scores – 61% had scores in that range. That would imply that an ACT score in that range is not all that special: many more accepted students than not have scores in that range. (And keep in mind that Barnard, like all the top schools, will also reject many high stats students).

So the OP clearly has a GPA and test scores within range for Barnard admission, but the CDS doesn’t tell us what the odds of admission are. It’s probably better than 20%, as many of the rejected applicants also have weaker stats. But obviously not 61%.
